“Comfortable but worn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Checked into the hotel at 2:00am. Was given a room on the 17th floor. View was great, but, the building is old and worn. The windows are not sealed or sound proof. You hear every noise outside. Almost like sleeping with the window open.

As for the room, it was nice, clean. Housekeeping did a good job each morning. Most of the staff was more than accommodating.

Watch the front desk staff. I parked a car in the garage overnight only for one night. Ask the girl at the desk how do I pay for parking. She keyed my room key and said it would be on the bill. Unknown to me, she also checked me out of the hotel when I had one more night to go. Her excuse was I was only in the computer for two nights instead of three. I immediately produced my paperwork clearly stating three nights. I guess she was a bit confused.

The restaurant buffet for breakfast was fair. Eggs were made to order but the bacon, sausage and potatoes were all swimming in grease.

One the plus side, the hotel is close to Amtrak and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Other than that, downtown Cleveland does not have too much, at least not around this hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. As you may know, we take these very serious and distribute them throughout the hotel for opportunities to get better. While I am sorry for the noise you encountered from the windows, I am glad you enjoyed the view and service. I will make sure to address the checking you out early. We look forward to returning.

“Yes, Cleveland can be FUN”

Our room was clean and comfortable on arrival. The maid service was a bit lackluster. Failed to empty garbage one day and the hall ways were always cluttered with room service trays and guest debris. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Garage was convienent but I felt over priced. The quick complementary shuttle service did help offset that expense. The big fall down was the on site resturant bar. Slow service high price and poor quality food. Do bring snacks for the room and plan ,eals elsewhere. Pool and spa were very good. Lots of access to large super fluffy towels. The location especially in combination with the shuttleservices would be hard to beat. Would like to return when the weather is much warmer. Don't miss the theater district. And the museums are first quality.

“Nice place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Enjoyed the hotel, rooms clean and pleasant. The shuttle is a great way to get around the town without driving. The only complaint that I had was that the walls were a little too thin for my liking. I could here my colleague's sleep music all night.

“Cleveland does not rock at this Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

A week-end get away to hell. We purchased the "Rock & Roll" package from the Double Tree Hotel on Lakeside so that we could get the tickets for the Hall of Fame which incl. breakfast and free parking. On arrival at 8pm on Jan 28th, 2012 we were greeted by a surly looking front desk women who appeared to be inconvenienced by us. Once checking in we went up to our room. The first thing we noticed was the empty bag of chips on the floor which indicated the room was not very well cleaned. Before going to bed I went to put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and searched the whole room to find we did not have one.The next morning we awoke to the sound of someone repeatedly trying to open our door and banging on the deadbolt. I had to get up and ask the person to come back later. After being woke up went to breakfast downstairs at the restaurant. This was by far one of the worst breakfast thrown together that I have seen in a long time. The eggs were not even real eggs but egg-beaters with some cheese thrown on and green peppers. The potatoes were cooked beyond recognition and the bacon/sausage looked to be from the day before. After returning to our room we found the maid had broken my partner's makeup bottle (problably trying it). While waiting for the elevators which were extremely slow, we noticed most of the staff were walking around blasting gangster rap from their phone or other device. This was by far the worst Double Tree that we have ever stayed at! From the kitchen, front desk and house keeping this hotel needs to restaff and start over!

Room Tip: Ask for a clean room or failing that pick another hotel

Thank you and we look forward to being your choice of hotels when the weather warms. The outdoor restaurants are nice and we are conveniently located. However, if you do not wish to walk, please look to take advantage of our complimentary shuttle service within the downtown.
