If you have reason to be in Cleveland you'll soon find that the Glidden House is perfect for your stay. Located in University Circle, you're just across the road from the Cleveland Institute od Music, on the campus of Case Western and a short walk to Severance Hall, the Art Museum and the Botanical Gardens. Little Italy and its great restaurants is about a 10 minute walk from the inn also.
Located in the old mansion of the Gldden Family (of paint fame!), you feel that you're walking into a private home. The small lobby to your left and the dining area-set up for breakfast each morning- the bar and seating area are all welcoming and warm. The few suites upstairs in the old building are intimate and quietly elegant while the rooms in the addition are decorated in "Boutique" style with unique art work and spotless bathrooms.
Service here is first-rate and has been on every one of my stays. Request extra towels or anything else you need and it will be delivered to your room almost before you hang up the phone- and with a smile too! A USA Today will be on your doorstep each morning and other papers are on the console in the lobby so that you can read while having your coffee in the dining or "winter garden" room.
You'll get a pass to park for free in the private lot in the back- a big plus because spaces in University Circle are at a premium! If you are taking a student to audition at the conservatory (or dropping them at school) ask for the "CIM Rate" when you make your reservations- and do that really early because the place books up. Remember to plan ahead for graduation!!

Rented the single queen bed sized room, plenty of space for a couple. Most rooms are located at the rear of the historic section in a modern addition. Nicely appointed bedroom, well maintained and provided with normal amenities, but no fridge. Public rooms are in the main section of original historic house and are lovely. They've retained many of the original moldings and carved paneling. Stylish bar area at the back of first floor has seating set up in small groupings; there's a garden room with tables for breakfast. The cosy oak-paneled dining room has a fireplace, also used for breakfast (which is included in room rate).
Staff was very friendly and helpful, loaned us a wine bottle opener, provided driving directions.
Only complaint was that breakfast could have been improved...oatmeal was over cooked and seemed like wallpaper paste, omelettes tasted too much of margarine, not of eggs and cheese as labeled.
Located a stone's throw from the Botanical Garden and Art Museum.

Yes, I confess, I am one of theose people who look at the corners in the bathroom to see if someone really cleans. At the Glidden house they do, and I loved the care that was in every detail. Staff iare friendly in an honest and sincere way like they actually like what they do. And the breakfast ( with the exception of the eggs) was really good. I especially appreciated the well made coffee and the mixture of fresh strawberries and blueberries. Oh and the 3 newspaperes, one for every taste.
This hotel is also walking distance from museums and such so you could have a lovely time in spring or summer.
Absolutely will be there again. This will be our go-to hotel in Cleveland.
