My husband and I stayed at the Residence Inn in Canton for 3 nights during Thanksgiving. The hotel is under renovations, which is good because it's very worn out. VERY sub-par, especially for a Marriott property. The hallways are very dark and dingy looking and the only elevator in the hotel moves at a snail's pace. Honestly, there are only 3 floors in the place, but on Thanksgiving morning, we waitied approximately 4 minutes (I timed it) for the elavator. Service was okay, but we were appalled by one housekeeper in particular, who on Thanksgiving while we were waiting for that slow elevator, carried on and on about how ticked off she was to have to work on the holiday and that the manager approved a 1:00pm check out for a guest, so now she was going to have to work even later, and who does that manager think she is.... she went on and on. VERY unprofessional and left us both with a very bad impression. But to top things off, when we returned back that evening, an iPod Touch was stolen from our room - ON THANKSGIVING. (Whoever does something like that has some very bad karma coming their way.) The General Manager was apologetic, but under the circumstances, she definitely could have more sympathetic. My husband was asked to fill out an incident report that would be sent to Corporate, and she asked if we wanted her to call the Sheriff to file a police report. Actually, she whispered the question to us, as there was a family checking in at the time and I'm sure she didn't want them to know what was going on. The Sheriff came out, took the report and was very sympathetic, saying it doesn't matter if it was an iPod or a tooth pick that was missing from the room, it's wrong for housekeeping to help themselves to anything.

My husband travels every week for work and stays at Marriott properties all over the East Coast, but when we visit MY hometown, we get robbed. I know it's just a material possession, but it left us with a bad impression of the hotel, Canton, and put a damper on our holiday.

We stayed two nights at the Residence Inn in Canton. While the hotel rooms looked dated (really just the kitchen cabinetry), they were very clean. We have little kids (that love playing on the floor) and were pleased that the carpet appeared to be new. The free breakast buffet was very good, and the service at breakfast was excellent. The hotel is conveneint to many restaurants and the interstate. It's about ten minutes from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This place is really a 3 1/2 star hotel in our book. You can't go wrong with this hotel!

We are big fans of Marriott properties, so when we were coming to Ohio for a family reunion, we only searched for Marriott hotels. We selected the Residence Inn. Just returned (Aug. 14). The hotel is very worn out and dirty...it doesn't come close to the minimum standard that you expect for a Marriott property. The room (#205) had a terrible smell, even after we sprayed all of the carpets/furniture with fabreze. The kitchen floor was so rotted-out that it gave away when stood upon. When I commented to the cleaning staff about the problems, she added that she thought that the kitchen had black mold. The balance of the property was also tired and worn out. Our teenage children commented that it looked like a "bad old folks home." Only there for two nights...seriously considered biting the bullet and moving for night 2, but we only stayed in the room for 6 hrs. each day. Talked to many "residences" of the hotel who were families that are using the hotel as their family home. Have already contacted the manager and am calling Marriott directly today...this property needs to be shut-down and stripped to its core.

Not a good start. Six weeks ahead of arrival,  I made reservations on-line and then followed that with a telephone call directly to the hotel. I had reserved the two bedroom, handicap accessible suite.  I even received an email confirmation detailing the room description  Imagine our surprise, when we arrived after a long day of driving,to discover that our room was the STUDIO suite!  The front desk said that they would correct the error...tomorrow.  Upon checking out, our invoice did not include a charge for that first night.  We thought that it was compensation for the error.  Unfortunately, when the credit card statement arrived, we had been charged for that first night's stay on a separate invoice that we did not received.  That was rather deceiving.

Now for room.  The room was clean and the handicap accessible accommodations were above average.  The breakfast was plentiful.   The large pet walking area was very nice.  if in the Canton area again, we would probably stay here again, due to the quality of the rooms.
