After driving for two hours on our way back to the Midwest from NJ in the pouring rain we finally found this Best Western in Cambridge, Ohio that had a few rooms. We booked it over the phone as we were driving. Upon pulling into the parking lot, I didn't have good vibes about this place.
My husband went inside to check us in while I, our two kids and my brother waited in the car. He was waiting well over 30 minutes to check in as the guy at the front desk was gabbing away with some bikers and talking nonsense instead of doing his job. Not to mention he was rather rude.
Finally after getting checked in and proceeding to where the room was located we walked into the room and I almost puked. The stench of dust and filth filled the room. I know you get what you pay for, but dang..for $90 and 2 stars we expected a little bit better than what we got. Believe me, if it hadn't been midnight, pouring rain and we hadn't already been driving for 9 hours we would of went elsewhere!
After stepping into the room and closing the door, I could see a inch gap all the way around the door which is how I'm sure the bug/spiders come in. The carpet was so nasty it turned my socks dark black after only walking across the room once.
I went into the bathroom and after turning on the light and as I sat down to pee I saw a huge spider running across the floor. I killed the spider and not even 5 minutes later was a jumping cricket of some kind in the bathroom.
Next, I went to the bed and sat on it. Springs could instantly be felt through the mattress. I pulled the comforter back and saw a dark, long black hair across my pillow. I told my husband and he picked it up with a Kleenex. I then grabbed a hand towel to lay across the pillow before laying on it. We all slept with pants, shirts and socks on. No way were we laying in those nasty beds. Who knows how long it's been since the linens were changed.
We usually stay in 4 star hotels and we love Hampton Inn's but unfortunately they were booked everywhere in our driving radius. Like I said, I didn't expect this place to be a Hampton Inn or Hilton, but I did expect better quality for $90. I will NEVER AGAIN stay at a Best Western. That place needs to be shut down by the health officials.
This place was by far the worst place I've ever stayed in my life. We will never make this mistake again! We didn't get a wink of sleep. I only wish I would of saw reviews about this place before we even made a reservation on the road.
