“Late night arrival”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

The hotel was fairly convenient to the highway and in a quiet area very near BGSU. The hotel was clean and quiet, which was good as I arrived at 11:00 pm and wanted a good night's sleep prior to leaving at 7:30 am for appointments the next morning. I booked through Priceline, and named my own price and saved $10 over the rack rate. Very reasonable, considering the hotels just down the road in Findlay were at least $20 more. For my purposes, since all I wanted was a bed--the $20 I saved payed for dinner and breakfast in the morning.

Room Tip: I always like the first floor.

“No Hot breakfast, unkept exterior, overpriced”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

This is not a great place to stay. I have stayed at many Best Westerns in worse areas that are very superior to this one. It was more like staying at a run down Red Roof!!! The cost was around $76.00 for the night. It is not a very safe feeling area, but that could be caused from the run down exterior. We ended up staying on the second floor next to apartment rooms that they rent out. A couple of the renters staying there leared at us as we went to our room. This also gave way for an unsafe feeling. Our railing was loose and unsafe. I'm thinking that there has to be more to this hotel with some of the reviews than what we saw, but I don't get it. When checking in I hesitated because of the price and the looks of the hotel. However, the night desk person told us there was a hot breakfast in the morning that included eggs and sausage so I felt ok. This quite frankly was the only reason we decided to stay for this price. Usually Best Westerns put out a nice little hot breakfast. Can't recommend here unless you are desperate for a place to stay.

“Good Value!”

I stayed at Best Western because I had some business at the university and it absolutely met my needs. I chose a non-smoking room with an interior entrance and king sized bed. The room had a perfect little work area for my needs (quietness, a desk, and complimentary wireless high-speed internet). If I wasn't so busy working, I definitely would have taken advantage of the whirlpool and fitness room; I peeked in and they looked decent and no one else was using them. There were fresh-baked cookies at the front desk and as much complimentary coffee that I wanted. The breakfast was fine for me; there were big bagels with cream cheese, apples, cereal, breakfast bars, juice, etc... plenty to choose from and would be exactly the type of food I'd be purchasing if I was getting breakfast at a cafe (to people expecting a more extravagant spread, sorry, you are probably paying around $70 for a room; this isn't a $200/night hotel, who in my experience often charge extra for their amazing fresh fruit and hot meal). There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there are a lot of restaurants in the area; if you don't want to leave (like I didn't), you can order from Sam B's - they have a great variety and brought my order right to my room within 40 minutes. There was plenty of parking and I felt like my car was safe.

What I did not like:
1. The room smelled bad. Everything seemed clean, but I could not stand the smell. I think it is just what the cleaning stuff smells like maybe?
2. There is no elevator. I had to carry quite a heavy suitcase up the stairs because there was no one who could help my luggage. Almost fell down the stairs, and on the way out, I had to lug the suitcase down the stairs in my professional attire. So...pack lightly or request a room downstairs.

In all, it was a great value for a business stay. My experience was good overall and I would return to this hotel.

Room Tip: There is no elevator and no one to help with luggage so if you would have a hard time carrying your...

“Great value, great service, central location and clean!”

Great place to stay. Very clean and very friendly and accomidating staff. Beds are a bit stiff but the housekeeping that comes every morning and the staff who has menus for nearby restaurants make up for that three fold. Loved the stay!!

“Good Hotel”

A group of us from 3 dive clubs got together to do some local diving at Portage Quarry. This hotel was close in proximity. All the staff were polite. Rooms were very comfortable and good hot water. Beds were great too.

After our event, some of us wanted to stay up and play cards. The front desk staff let us use the eating area that as just off the main room where you can get a continental breakfast. That was nice, because actually that room was closed.

All in all my/our stay was quite pleasant. Check out was easy.
