We booked this room because we intended to stay several days and take most of our meals in our room. What was billed as a "suite" was nothing more than a room with a 2-burner stove (NO oven), microwave and fridge crammed into the entrance to the room.
We also were given a handicapped room - which meant that we had no bathtub, just a roll-in type shower. We were told no other "suites" were available.
There were plates, bowls, cups and silverware for exactly 2 people - no extra bowls for mixing, storing etc. No cooking utensils. ONE pan. There was a toaster. Upon request we were provided with 1 additional cooking pot, two extra bowls and an extra set of silverware. There were no napkins, paper towels, glasses, salt and pepper, in short I have never seen such a bare bones excuse for an "extended stay suite." If you really plan on an extended stay here, make sure you pack up quite a few of your own cooking utensils. Oh and by the way, pack your hair dryer, they don't provide one of those either.
When we arrived only one of the two burners worked. I fixed it myself. The air conditioning was not working properly and when reported, this was immediately and succcessfully remedied.
THING WE LIKED LEAST: While seeking information about a local restaurant at which we were to meet family, front desk personnel offered us a 30% discount on our meal at a local restaurant. They gave us the name of the manager at the restaurant and said they would call ahead to ensure we got this discount. We did talk to the restaurant manager, and he appeared to agree that we would be getting this discount. When our bill came, however, no such luck. The restaurant manager now said we must have understood.
We went back to hotel front desk and reported our experience. We were told they were shocked this had happened and would "talk to the restaurant manager the next morning." A lot of good that did us - no offer to deal with it that night. We felt it had been a scam - and wondered how often they pull this on people to get them to that restaurant (Hyde Park right nearby).
WHAT WE LIKED BEST: Other than the scam described above, people working at the hotel were generally responsive and had a helpful, positive attitude.
BOTTOM LINE: This is the worst excuse for an extended stay hotel we have experienced, and we are quite experienced. We will be avoiding Homestead Suites and their affiliates in the future and we urge you to do the same.
