I purchased a special 'group buy' deal for a two day retreat at Authenticy Health and Wellness Retreat, so at the price I paid it was reasonable. However, if you're thinking about treating yourself at the normal rate, I'd say think again!
Port Elliot is a lovely spot, but the retreat is a couple of km's away from the main beach and high street area. Its set on quite attractive grounds, but there's really nowhere to go and very little to do. This is really a glorified B&B - not a health retreat. I went in winter so couldn't use the pool. The gym is a converted shed with a few pieces of home gym equipment. The yoga and tai chi classes would be fine if you've never tried these things before. The massage was pathetic - beautician style, not masseur style.
The rooms are large and beds are comfortable, but the bathroom was shared. I enjoyed the spa - but you need to be reasonably agile to get in to it. The shared areas are lovely and there was a big open fire burning the whole time I was there.
The best thing about the retreat was the food. It's wonderful, high quality vegetarian fare. Delicious!
Overall, I had a relaxing couple of days curled up with a book - but with the exception of the food and the open fire - I probably would have gotten just as much out of a quiet weekend at home.
