“Beautiful Oasis in Mission Beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We found this beautiful gem while organizing our Australia trip. We are very glad that we booked this beautiful B & B.

When we drove up to the driveway of Licuala Lodge, both my wife and I looked at each other and smiled and said, "Is this it? It's beautiful!!" Mick and Sue keep their property in pristine order. During the day, you will see Mick working away in his gardens making the property an oasis to stay at.

The property has a kitchen with microwave, toaster, cooktop for pots and pans and a BBQ which we used for our 2 nights and 3 days that we stayed there. We made ourselves some delicious dinners after going to the grocery store which is only a 5 minute drive away.

The room was very clean and was very comfortable. It included a small refrigerator to keep our groceries and chill our wine. The rooms are all elevated off the ground with the vehicles parked under them.

Mick and Sue have thought of every little detail from a candle and lighter on the table outside each room to enjoy at night, having ice cream available for a small cost (honour system) and having complimentary beer in the main fridge in the house. The breakfasts were delicious and filling, with fruit salad, cereal, toast, muffins and a small menu of hot food.

My wife and I spent nearly the entire time at the lodge laying by the pool and enjoying the beautiful property. We are glad we did, as we saw many sightings of the Cassowary. If you really want to see this very unique bird, we encourage you to lounge by the pool. You will see our encounters in the pictures we uploaded.

Thank you to Mick and Sue for your hospitality and making our stay with you memorable. We recommend this B & B to anyone wishing to stay in the beautiful town of Mission Beach.

“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

Licuala Lodge was one of our best experiences in Australia. Mick and Sue's bed and breakfast in Mission Beach is a superb example of Austrailian hospitality. We were impressed with the accomodation (clean, well appointed), excellent breakfasts (best omelette I have ever eaten!), and genuinely friendly atmosphere. The gardens and pool were lovely. We stayed there three nights altogether and wished we could have stayed longer. Lin & Brian Weich, Quesnel BC Canada

Room Tip: The four rooms in the guest wing are all good. No airconditioning but since it is queenslander style...

“What a Great Place to Stay in Queensland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

We would fully recommend this B&B to anyone travelling in the Mission Beach area of Queensland. This was our first visit to Australia and we stayed in the main Lodge itself which was spacious and extremely comfortable. Taking Sue's wonderful cooked breakfasts on the verandah, overlooking Mick's beautiful garden, was definitely special. Mick and Sue do everything they can to make their visitors feel welcome and provide valuable information on the surrounding area. We were fortunate to see the Cassowary appear in the garden - what an incredible creature it is! A swim in the pool at the end of a hot afternoon was perfect and we would not hesitate in going back to Licuala Lodge.

“Poms stay at Licuala Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

This is a great place. Our first stay in Australia. Things in general were a bit ragged around the edges after cyclone Iasi, but Mike and Sue had clearly done a lot of recovery work. This was not so much a bed and breakfast as a full-blown ranch. Lots of space, lovely gardens and really really good cooked breakfasts. 20 minute walk to tropical beach. Great pool, in which Mike takes obvious pride. he and Sue were a mine of information on where to eat, what to see and where to go. He fixed us up at the Undara lava tubes as our next major place to see.

Room Tip: They are all good - nice and quiet, no noisy neighbours.
