I have no idea which Island Leisure Resort the babyboomers3 from Melb(some people are hard to please) stayed at but it wasn't the same one as us. We found the staff helpful, friendly & always with a smile. We had a slight problem with our air conditioner & they were more than happy for us to keep the contol in our room incase we had more problems. Our room was comfortable & adequate for what we needed to chill out in.Cathy & Mark were easy to approach & made our stay so relaxing we were prepared to blow our deposit on the Townsville accomodation to stay a few more days except if we stayed more than the 12 days we did it would be harder to leave. Mark went out of his way to make sure he picked the best day for our cruise, drove us to the boat & gave us the keys to bring back his car. Even their daughters went out of their way to include our 15yr old son in a movie afternoon. Thanks guys for making our holiday so great & we hope to see you again next year. Ross, Lori & Luke

When we first got there, I wasn't impressed. We sat around in the reception area for about an hour and no one was there to check us in so we got fed up and went for a walk. Came back, checked in. Love the fully self contained resort style Bures with one queen bed and 3 bunks. Very roomy with all cooking utensils supplied and a decent sized fridge. The resort is central to a lot of things on Maggie and only about 50m from the beach (although not the nicest beach on the island). The bus goes right past the front door. A restaurant is within easy walking distance, as is a supermarket, bottle shop, pharmacy and cafe. The pool was quite small and not exceptionally clean. Tennis court, games room and ping pong table for the kids, gymnasium for fitness freaks.
Very laidback environment on a quiet street and the staff are very friendly.

We booked for three nights and stayed two. Accomodation was hard to get because of the V8 supercar weekend but it was still no excuse for what we encountered.
First night we found that the bed quilt was dirty and smelly, the overhead fan didn't work, the toilet leaked all night, the bed was the worst that I had slept in and the next door neighbours were making a racket until 1.30am. Next day I complained about the quilt which was replaced. Nothing was done about the fan or the leaking toilet. Night two the neighbors made another racket until 1.30 in the morning again. Next day checked out and gave reason why. Management really didn't seem to care or offer apologies. They had plenty of Tourism awards on the wall but close inspection showed that they were 12 yo. They certainly wouldn't get one now.

We had booked another hotel only to be told that the booking agent had stuffed up and booking wasn't available or our money!! Found this on the net and the price was very good for a last minute booking. Close to beach, ferry and Man Fridays Mexican (it was great). The owners Mark and Kathy were really nice and helpful, room was very good for the price, clean apart from a couple cockroaches in the cupboard but this is Nth Qld, no problems there was a can of insect spray provided so was nuked them but we washed everything before using. Pool area was great, as were the tennis courts, games room and gym needed a bit of TLC and would be great if fixed up a little.This could be a really fantastic location but a few things are getting a bit rundown a pity as with a little money spent on a few superficial things it would be perfect. Still great value for money, great location for families and friendly staff and other guests.
