“Eventually redeemed themselves.....”

My partner and I stayed here overnight as we were visiting friends locally. I had requested a quiet room with a balcony - well, we got the balcony but the room wasn't quiet as there was a flight of stairs the other side of the wall adjacent to the bed headboard, so we could hear the stairs constantly creaking. The room was very small, hardly room for the two of us to move around easily, and you couldn't hang a full length garment in the very small wardrobe as the hanging space was only jacket length. We weren't happy but thought we would stick with it as we weren't going to be there long, but the final straw was when my partner put the robe on after his bath and discovered a pocket full of the previous wearer's Spa paperwork - and then on closer inspection it was very obvious from the stains that the robe hadn't been laundered at all but just folded up on to the hangar and left for the next occupant. He went to reception and told them of the problems and they immediately offered to move us to a quiet room, and said they would move everything while we were out for the evening. This they did, and the new room was much better - much cleaner, bigger, quieter and the robes were fresh! It does make you wonder why they couldn't have put us in this room in the first place, as it was obviously available.....
So only three stars for "Average" as we were disappointed with our stay.

Dear Reviewer

I would like to reiterate my heartfelt apology from last week. I have been doing a number of checks this week on how that robe ended up in your bedroom and cannot come up with any conclusive answers. All I can say is that this the first time this has happened in my time at the Felbridge and I completely understand your feelings on this issue. I am very proud of the cleanliness of the hotel and almost all our guests go away commenting on the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel in general.

Following on from this though we have introduced a couple of new measures and checks by the housekeeping team to ensure we dont see the same incident happen again. I am pleased though that you enjoyed the Suite that was made available to yourselves after the incident and that the rest of your stay was a peacful one. I do hope you return to the Felbridge at some point in the future and if you do please get in touch with me and I will personally look after your booking with us.

Kind Regards
Carl Rundgren

“Had a good spa break with a friend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for a spa weekend. The room was very nice and we had a super meal in the restaurant. I had two fantastic treatments in the SPA - although they were on the expensive side. The leisure centre althought nice, the fitness centre was small and the pool wasn't suitable for swimming. However, I did have a very nice weekend and I would go back.

“Excellent hotel for a break for rest and relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My partner had lost her father and she is looking after her mother so I took her away for a break - the manager Tony from Kenya welcomed us and showed us one of their suites - it was first class with ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The spa with pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room was also first class and very relaxing. The evening meal was superb with the service top rate and we had a very romantic night back in the suite my partner forgetting all the trauma she had been through.. In the morning the breakfast was superb and we left our room after 11am planning to come back again when my partner needs some more R & R.to get over here and her mother's bereavement.

The cost was fairly reasonable as it was a January offer by the hotel.

“Excellent for an LGW hotel. Average for an independent spa hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We booked a suite- upon arrival I thought the room that had been allocated was standard, then took a reality check because we were near LGW and bedrooms tend to be very small, so didn't complain.

The food was lovely, staff friendly and the spa was just ok. Probably wouldn't stay here again - unless there was a good deal to be had.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the food and service received. I do hope to see you return, and if you are looking for a great deal we have a £109 Dinner, Bed and Breakfast offer on at the moment which is proving extremely popular. It may tempt you to try us again, we do offer a great value for money alternative to other 4/5 star spa hotels in the local area.

“Excellent, I wanted to stay longer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

The hotel itself is of an excellent standard with even the smallest detail taken care of. The rooms are comfortable and what a lovely touch to have a robe supplied, something that you don't get these days. Having Elemis toiletries and non generic biscuits are just a couple of extra touches which sets the Felbridge apart from the rest.

I actually didn't find the room rate terribly expensive when compared to a Holiday Inn stay the week before which was far inferior and only £7 per night less!

The receptionists were fabulous; very professional and helpful whilst still being friendly.

The restaurant staff were outstanding and the food superb. A hot bread roll was supplied, one of those lovely extra touches again that seems to have fallen out of fashion recently. Unfortunately I was unwell at breakfast (nothing to do with the hotel) so couldn't finish my breakfast which is a shame as it looked lovely. I had a smoothie which was gorgeous and it was very nice to be provided with a pot of herbal tea rather than pointed at a tea bag and the hot water! Again the staff were superb, nothing was too much trouble.

A special mention for the spa manager who did my hair. I experienced the same level of service as from the rest of the staff and she made the daunting task of using a new hairdresser a pleasant and positive experience. I will definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

It is obvious that this hotel is service orientated and is not just a conveyor belt of customers. My only negatives were that I had to leave and that I couldn't take advantage of the facilities because of my schedule.

Thank you, an excellent service which really is second to none.
