I was taken to the Old Tollgate for a night on my birthday. The room was lovely and very clean, it looked newley decorated. The staff were ever so helpful, genuinley happy and cheerful. It was a great birthday.

I booked the Old Tollgate Hotel when I couldn't get into a local hotel that I usually stay at and I must say that I was impressed. The hotel is a nice mix of the modern and traditional with a pleasant friendly atmosphere. Our room, a superior, was just that. Quality furniture with tasteful decor throughout and one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in at a hotel. The bathroom too was of good size and well appointed and like the bedroom spotlessly clean. If I can level a complaint at all it was that the plumbing was sometimes a little noisy... but I'm really being picky by saying this. There is a good selection of breakfast foods on offer and service is also friendly and efficient without being overt. We did not use the restaurant of an evening so we cannot offer an opinion but from what we saw of the buffet food laid out it looked to be excellent. There is plenty of off street parking on site and really this is essential due to the narrow main street of Bramber. The Old Tollgate is by no means the cheapest place to stay in the area nor is it the most expensive but it is one of the friendliest and I stay in this neck of the woods quite a bit. One bit of advice, check to see if there are any special rates available... always worth a try.

Stayed here for just 1 night in November '11. Bramber is a very quiet village and the hotel seems to be in the centre. Our room was in the block oppersite reception (the hotel is split into 2 buildings). Had a very nice comfortable room that was of a good size, had mini bar (expensive as always), a few digital tv channels and a bathroom with one of the most powerfull showers I've ever had the fortune to experience.

Did not try the restraunt as not a big fan of carvery, but had an excellent dinner in the pub next door, as had eaten here we stayed in the pub for a few of drinks, so cant comment on the restraunt or bar! Can say the room service menu looked excellent though, would have liked to stay longer just to try it!

Staff seemed freindly and efficent and check in and check out, on such a short stay didnt have much contact with them though!

My only complaint has to be the road noise that woke us up early in the morning, as our window was on the ground floor and a few feet from the road, which is quiet apart from rush hour when the village goes of to work!

All in all would stay again no problem if I was in the area again!

Stayed for 1 week in November 2011, whilst visiting friends and relatives. Good, efficient welcome, excellent room, very clean - underfloor heating in bathroom - lovely. Very good buffet breakfast selection; in addition there are kippers or smoked haddock to order. Didn't use the (carvery) restaurant, but the selection looked very good. Overall, really nice place to stay at decent prices - we paid around £56 per room per night for a week's stay. Really good value.Best Western guarantee that no other booking site will be cheaper than their own site - we found this to be true.
