“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

My boyfriend and I visited Whittlebury hall the night before Valentines for a romantic break. They allowed us to check in one hour early which was great, however when we arrived in the room it did not have the amenities promised on booking and only had one glass, dressing gown etc. We had to ask three times for the fruit platter which eventually arrived at about 10pm that evening.

The room itself was nice, however the decor slightly dated but had comfy beds and ample room. The walls however are very thin and we could hear every word (and sound!)from the couple next door...

We had the Heat and Ice package in the spa which was nice and took about half an hour to do all the different heat and ice experiences. We also used the gym and swimming pool which were both nice and the gym had very new equipment.

Our evening meal in the Astons restaurant was very disappointing. We waited 45 mins for our starter and then another 20 for our mains and were served very small slightly cold portions. Breakfast was fairly good, big choice of cooked items and the usual fruit and cereal for continental.

This hotel was average, but for what we paid for dinner, bed and breakfast - can't complain. If you want fast, consistent service this wouldnt be my first choice.

“Spa-tastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I have just returned from an overnight spa package with my friend. We visit at least once a year and we have never been disappointed. The spa and therapies were excellant. The hotel staff were polite and helpful and the food in the evening was out standing. The only niggle is that the spa reuse the slippers,(cleaned) please provide new ones. We will definatley return as they continue to offer great deals. Its a fantastic opportunity to relax and spend time with friends. Always made to feel special x

Room Tip: Upgrage for £30

“As good as always”

I have been to this hotel many times on one of their hotel and spa deals. This time was a girly night away for my mum's birthday, but I have previously been with my husband just the 2 of us and also as a group of couples. The reason I keep coming back to this hotel is the SPA and the good deals that they run. The Heat and Ice experience is great and has a lot of different stations so even when it gets busy, and it is much busier now that when we first visited, there is still space to find a spot for relaxing. I would point out though that the main area in the experience is very noisy as the acoustics are not well designed. However this has never spoilt my enjoyment and I would suggest if you think this might be a problem you choose an early morning or evening spa time. Also if you are looking for very quiet there is always the 'dozing' room (relaxation room). Unless the spa treatments come as part of the package I would not bother as I have always found them slightly disappointing - the massage it not strong enough, or the time is cut short.
The hotel itself has nice rooms that are normally a good size, although occasionally a little small. The main restaurant is mediocre although the staff are always attentive. I have not tried Murrays or the pizza place so i couldn't comment on that. The bar is cozy and the reception area and lounge offer plenty of relaxation space. The pool area is lovely and the gym is a hidden gem if you feel like a real workout.

All in all a good hotel - so in this case I would say don't judge the book by the cover.

“80's night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Excellent party night, beautiful large room, and food was very good considering it was a large crowd.

Te leisure facilities were very busy, but clean and inviting.

Only downside was breakfast, felt like it was in alarge conference room and the food as cold.

Definately will return

“Get Spa'd out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

if you enjoy the simpler things in life or just want to get pampered, then Whittlebury Hall is where you want to be. Drive or take the train, located in a remote village, this hotel is in close proximity to silverstone, and has a massive golf course on its' doorstep. I stayed there a couple of times before, and have just returned today after a girly weekend of relaxation and pampering, with a 3 course meal, and breakfast added on the package. I was sad to learn recently that this hotel had gone into administration, and hope that more people go and visit so that it does not close down. The hotel is massive, staff very friendly, and the rooms are a good size. The dinner on the night was just right for me, but try to get it as part of the package you can get some great deals via their own website, otherwise you may be disappointed, the portions to some are small. The heat and ice experience is great, but if you can, book yourself a treatment aswell. I had the Hammam treatment this time, it was a lovely experience, and I was totally relaxed. Breakfast buffet, has a lot, plenty for all, and attentive staff. The room this time round was a little disappointing as my bed was too soft, and the bed covers extremely heavy and restricting. The shower tap was very stiff and dripped once you turned it off, but you have the option of a bath aswell. Other than that the room was lovely. We didn't participate in the musical themed nights, but still had a great spa break. So whether you're going with the girls, guys, or your partner, stay at the whittlebury hall hotel, lovely hotel, friendly staff, and decent grub. If you do get the train, get off at milton keynes central and phone for a local taxi firm, should cost about £15 one way for 4 people.

Room Tip: upgrade to a club room will get you turn down service, wine, water and fruit
