“" awful food "”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2010

whilst the building is quite pleasant the current manager ,as she introduced herself , has no interest in the customers and was more interested in playing with her baby son in the bar... not a good thing to be doing at 10pm at night !
The standard of the food was atrocious and when challenged the staff soley gave a limp "sorry"
Would not recommend the place at all.. avoid at all costs

“You won't be Dissapointed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

We stayed at the Jester on Monday night the 27th September, and can not fault the place. On arrival the greeting was both proffesional and warm. Our room was clean comfortable and had everything that we wanted or needed.

The hotel did seem rather quiet that night but it was a Monday, however both members of staff who were on duty were very friendly. We enjoyed a three course meal which again was very nice.

I have read other reviews and agree that as we were at the front of the hotel you could hear the trains from early morning, but no where near as bad as other guests have indicated in their reviews.

Would we go back ? If we were in that area, without a doubt.

“a lucky find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

There are very few places to stay for my daughter's family when they visit Granny & Grandad, as pubs are not really suitable for young children because of the noise etc. and many places do not have a family room at all, so the Jester was a real find as it is clean and spacious with very helpful and friendly staff. The family room was big enough for four, the breakfast was good and served in a lovely conservatory dining room. it is located opposite a tiny railway station with an hourly service to London and Cambridge, and has plenty of parking. The b&b rate of £90 for four was very reasonable and we shall certainly use it again!

“Spotlessly clean, roomy, comfortable, cosy, friendly staff & good access”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

Stayed here for six nights during a group retreat. Service was excellent - friendly, attentive and personal. The staff were very friendly and greeted us personally. The room and en-suite was spotlessly clean, roomy and nicely neutrally decorated. The restaurant offered a good selection of pub meals at reasonable prices. The food was of very good quality and there was a wide selection at breakfast. The breakfast staff were happy to customise our meals according to preference. Finally, the hotel has a warm, cosy and, owing to its small size, personal atmosphere. It's a great place to 'get away from it all.' Overall, grade A!

NB hotel is located on road with good access about 200m from Ashwell-Morden railway station.
