My wife and I booked at the Swiss House the week before our visit. Most Castleton B&B's (if not all) have a minimum 2 night stay at weekends but we phoned on the off chance/hope there may be availability. We were in luck, and Martha couldn't have been any more helpful or pleasant during the booking. It was our 20th anniversary (not wedding, just since we met) and we decided to do something nice to mark the occasion.
When speaking about the booking I asked for a recommendation on the nicest room available and was given a couple of room options and we went for room 8. Have to say the photo on the hotel website doesn't do it justice. It is a lovely sized room, with an excellent, large shower and has a lovely view in the morning (when you open the fantastic blackout curtains). To wake up and look out to see snow on the hills and a small dusting coming down, it was a lovely sight. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a lovely nights sleep. We didn't hear any noise during our stay although on check out we were asked if some occupants had disturbed us due to noise, which they hadn't. The breakfast was lovely, cooked to order with quality ingredients and was just what was needed.
We booked this B&B following reading the tripadvisor reviews and am really glad we did. We will definitely be visiting again early in the new year. The fact it is a B&B only as opposed to a pub with accommodation actually suited us. The pub across road (the Cheshire Cheese inn) is lovely and just far enough away to hear no noise!
Once again, I highly recommend this B&B and want to thank Martha for being extremely helpful when we spoke to book. The only thing I'd change is that breakfast is early (finish taking orders at 9:15) but this was explained to me before booking. But overall - a fantastic place to stay.
