“Worst food on the whole of the coast to coast!”

slim pickings in Shap, but we decided to eat here - much to our dissapointment and dismay! It was cheap, that was the only thing that it had going for it, but not cheap enough for the slop we were served.

I ordered a shepherds pie, it was almost mince only just warm at the bottom of a thin layer of smashlike potatoe under a thick slab of orange cheese that didnt taste like cheese but left a layer of grease across the dish. The veg was a lame limp 2 bits of something.

I was really hungry having walked all day, but couldnt manage to eat this stuff, horrid. I left most of mine and went to the coop to get a pasta salad.

“Lovely rooms - shame about the owner's rudeness”

After saying they served breakfast between 7.30 and 9am, when we came down for breakfast at 8.45am the owner told us we were "too late" for breakfast and he was too busy to serve us as he "had "things to do". He then grudgingly served us cereal and white toast. We were walking the Coast to Coast but he was not geared up for walkers. e.g. there was no drying room. His attitude was rude and offhand. I would never stay there again despite the rooms being beautifully decorated with nice firm beds.

Stayed again.
Just as good.
Had an even bigger room!
Excellent room and shower.

Manager extremely helpful
Helped with the wireless internet. Due to the thickness of the walls it doesn't work in some of the rooms. It does work well in the bar area.

Excellent breakfast, friendly service.
