“Boutique Meets Country Hotel”

Broadoaks is a luxury hotel not far from the beaten path yet it feels like a world away.
The hotel is built of traditional stone and slate with seven acres of landscaped grounds for clay pigeon shooting and fishing. Owners Tracey Robinson and Joanna Harbottle never tire of the rushing water from the nearby river and the views across to Windermere and the Langdale Pikes.
When Pat and I stayed we were surprised to learn that Tracey is an accomplished musician and that we shared a love of the ukulele. (I just had to get a picture!)
After we’d been out we enjoyed a relaxing evening in front of the music room log fire. There are intimate interior spaces, secluded, warm and inviting, with ingle nook fireplaces and period furniture. Arts & Crafts abound and we expected William Morris to walk through the door. The hotel has 15, 5-star boutique and romantic bedrooms with tasteful styling. Some have hand-carved, four-poster beds, double-ended spa baths, and log fires. Our room had a TV in the bathroom!
Well-behaved, four-legged friends are welcome in some of the ground floor rooms which is so important for outdoor enthusiasts.
The dining experience is special. From a light lunch or afternoon tea to the signature dishes developed by head chef Gareth Owen, the award-winning, Michelin-recommended kitchen is passionate about the food and eager to create mouth watering dishes. The staff are happy to cater for dietary requirements. Your experience isn’t compromised just because you need something a little different. Gareth is creative and considerate, and enjoys a challenge!
To keep up with your exercise regime you can use the facilities at the nearby health club. For something more leisurely there is a spa, sauna and steam room, and a beauty salon with Repêcharge treatments including massage, facials and body therapies.
For a special occasion a menu can be created for your event along with personalised activities to make your ‘do’ the one of the year. A wedding should be perfect and Broadoaks is the ideal fairytale venue to host your special day. It was voted one of the most romantic hotels in the UK by the AA.
The secluded gardens, the magical stream that runs through the grounds and the Lake District scenery provide the perfect backdrop for romantic photographs. You can even arrive by helicopter!
Broadoaks can be hired for your exclusive use – an idyllic retreat to accommodate friends and relatives during your celebrations. Relax and unwind, you deserve the better things in life.
It’s the only one of its kind.

Dear Tony,

It's great to see another ukulele lover in the lakes and thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Trip Advisor. We love all things musical and have lots of instruments at the hotel for guests to enjoy but wherever Tracey goes her ukulele is never far away! We hope to see you again soon for a break and maybe a performance!

What a stunning location, and beautiful hotel. The rooms are breathtaking, we were in the romantic room with a huge circular jacuzzi bath - fabulous!
The food was fantastic and the hotel staff couldn't do enough for you. Molly was home when we stayed and you just wanted to bring her home, such a cutie.
Can't wait until we get married in May this year. Looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: All the rooms are delightful, even the bijou rooms are lovely

Following a 3 day Xmas break in the Lake District I contacted the hotel owners with the attached partial text:-

Since my wife and I were married many years ago, we have always spent Christmas as a familiy together. Last year was rather hectic and we thought this year we would spend Christmas away and let others take the workload. We made a booking at Broadoaks several months ago, but after doing so, we had doubts and concern whether or not we had made the right choice of venue. I am recently retired and I am in the "Grumpy old man" catagory and generally have a moan when things are not quite up to standard.
I would really like to congratulate you both on a really wonderful little corner of heaven you have put together here at Troutbeck. Every member of staff without exception have been so friendly and helpful beyond expectation. The food and cooking, again well above what we expected and the bedrooms and public rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. My views are also the views of all the other guests I came into contact with.

My wife and I stayed for the 3 day christmas break, great accommodation/food/staff. Even the constant rain did not ruin the stay. Superb, will come back.

Room Tip: Try the "pine" room with sunken bath
