I called in today, after a walk, hoping for a pint or two of Loweswater Gold. First pint was cloudy. After changing the barrel, my replacement pint was cloudy too... which is not what I want after a walk. Third pint OK... but it was ten minutes before I was able to enjoy it. No other gripes; it's a friendly, comfortable place. But someone needs to be keeping an eye on the beer...

Stayed in the Ruskin Suite - cannot fault the hotel at all. The atmosphere was perfect, staff extremely helpful, food and drink delicious and the room was spotless and beautifully decorated. We cannot wait to return!

Recently stayed for a long weekend. Our 2nd time at the Swan & it is still a lovely place to stay & relax - even with 2 children under 7. Well mainteded to a high standard, great facilities & staff are really friendly & helpful.

Hotel makes a real effort with children with specific area with toys/books, good childrens menu, magazines in room specific to childrens agre & even complimentary milk & cookies at bed time.

Only minor improvement would be to have bigger chanigng rooms for gym/pool as it can get a bit cramped.

We went the Swan Hotel for lunch only. We arrived at 11:15 and asked at the reception if food was available. We were told lunch bar snacks were being served in, well, the bar.

The interior of the hotel is very nice. A pleasant atmosphere and lots of nice facilities (gym, swimming pool, children's area, etc.) We made our way to the bar area and sat down. The lunch menu looked good and we went to the bar to place our order. We were then told the lunch menu was not available until 12noon, but we could order from the "breakfast" menu.

Fair enough, but the breakfast choice is very poor. A total of five items, teacake, crumpet, bacon or sausage butty, or a scone... We chose a bacon butty at 4.95 and a cappuccino at 2.50. A "butty" it seems is a white roll, which tasted extremely bland and was nothing more than a long-life supermarket roll, barely buttered with bacon that was almost inedible as it was too salty.

Considering we recently moved to the area and the Swan would be one of our local haunts we are very disappointed with our experience so far. However the lunchtime and restaurant menu look much better and we plan to go back.
