my wife and i stopped here 30th jan for a light lunch.my wife had quarter pound burger with chips charnised with a lovely salad she ate it all and declared how nicr it was i had the tomato soup and roasted pepper it exploded in my mouth with flavours off chilli and garlic wonderful my wife then finished with chocolate lumpy bumpy and fresh cream the plate was wiped clean by the time she had finished all the food was home cooked and highly recommened to all so nicr then when we picked our daughters up from school we went back and got the girls the same pudding all this for 22pounds give it a go think you will be very happy.

Seven Australians spent five days in this area, enjoying the sights of many of the historic towns and beautiful countryside. Every might though we enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere and excellent food at The Black Cock. Trevor, the publican, his wife and staff were our friends by the time we left. I would go back there again, any time, and can recommend The BlackCock to all

This is a small village pub with the bedrooms immediately above the bar area. Given that the licensee likes to keep the bar open into the early hours for the benefit of himself and selected locals, your chances of getting to sleep while this is going on are virtually nil.

The landlord needs to decide whether he wants to make an effort to accommodate the needs of guests or run an open all hours drinking club.

I always enjoy this pub when visiting the lakes, the staff there are always friendly, the food home made and locally sourced, always a range of lovely real ales ..... The size of the snug means that you have the chance to mingle with people from all walks of life, get caught up in local banter, an occasinal game of cards, and lots of randomness!!! Plenty of quiet cosy corners as well if wanting to have a quiet night, a log fire for the wanted and a well cared for beer garden in the summer. Everything a traditional pub should provide .
