Many thanks for your wonderful review on this site.

Lodore Falls is now one of the leading wedding venues in Cumbria with unrivalled standards of food and service in addition to THE finest setting in the Lake District. I'm so pleased that we lived up to these principles when looking after your son, his new bride and all family and friends recently.

Thank you once again for taking the time to place your review and I very much hope to have the pleasure of your company again soon in this wonderful part of the world.

Kind regards

“seems they have cut back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

As the title says seems at a 4 star hotel you no longer get bottled water in your room even a 2 room suite.
Been going back for 7 years now and would never think of not going but it is the little things, such as the bottled water where they seem to have made savings with no drop in room price.

But in saying that the staff, well what can i say there great, this hotel would close without Hans and Jake they go out of ther way to make your stay wonderful, but they all do a great job even if i do not know there names.

Yes i would recommend and yes i will go back, even if the owners are getting a bit tight.

Room Tip: get a lake view even if it costs more

Many thanks for taking the time to review our beautiful hotel on this site.

I do wish you had mentioned to me about the lack of bottled water, at the time of your stay with us, as I would have been only too delighted to have provided this with my compliments.

Thank you so much for your kind comments about the team here at Lodore Falls Hotel, I am very proud of each and every one of them.

I do very much look forward to welcoming you back to Lodore in the not too distant future.

Kind regards

I would like to start off by saying the Lodore falls hotel is a little slice of heaven inn the lakes we have been to the hotel several times over the last 5 years and even went for our honeymoon and we are intending to go back this Easter with our 1 year old every time we have stayed at the Lodore we have been treated to a wonderfully sumptuous holiday the food is delightful and very well prepared the rooms are clean and comfortable the staff are alway happy to see us and are very helpful in all ways imaginable the spa is exceptional in fact I don't think we've had a holiday there where we haven't partaken of the spas facility's I highly recommend this hotel to anyone of all ages that like spa holidays, walking holidays or just want to relax and kick back the hotel is situated near to the start of a few very good hiking trails and surprise point is worth the walk / drive up there. Many thanks for a lot of lovely holidays and hopefully many more to come:)

“Attempted Theft at Lodore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I read all the reviews for this hotel and must say that the hotel is a lovely place to visit. The views are great, the hotel was very nice and the food was excellent. All the reviews are spot on. However beware, when I went to check out I barely glanced at my bill, not expecting any problems in such a hotel, but I noticed extra drinks had been added to my bar bill. When I asked about it I was shown the signed receipt slips for the drinks in question, but they were NOT signed by me. Someone had used my room number AND attempted to copy my signature! I suppose anyone could have given my room number BUT only a member of the hotel staff would have known my name.
I asked to speak to the manager who promptly came to speak to me and to have the drinks bill removed from my final bill, he also assured me that he would fully investigate the attempted theft and let me know the results. The name of the bar person was on then receipts in question and he was the only member of staff working then bar on the 2 nights in question, yes it was not a one off attempted theft, I am still awaiting news from the manager, but I am not holding my breath.
In short, this is a lovely hotel BUT beware when ordering drinks, either pay cash or take a careful note of what you have had, I do not believe this to be a one off con.

Room Tip: At front to enjoy the view of the lake and distant fells

I replied to your e mail twice, firstly on 30th January and then again on 1st February when you stated that you hadn't received the first mail.

I totally refute your assertion that any member of my team would act in such a way, indeed I have reason to believe that such a claim laid out in this forum may be libelous.

It's such a shame that, when we met you accepted that I would investigate and come back to you with my findings which I have done twice, that you then go and place such a clearly malicious review on here.

Maybe you just wanted your “15 minutes of fame”?

Kind regards

“Comfortable Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed for 3 nights in January 2012 on a special offer which included DBB, a lunch and a cocktail on the first night for a discounted price. The location of the hotel is fabulous and a lake view room is worth the extra money. The public rooms of the hotel are very comfortable with welcoming fires in several lounges. Whilst comfortable and unpretentious the fixtures , fittings and furniture could do with a refurb. I am not suggesting modernisation because this would spoil the character of the hotel but it is somewhat shabby chique. All the staff we encountered were fantastic, the service was good but unobtrusive and all the staff were very friendly and efficient. Our room had a lake view (at extra cost) and was very comfortable but as indicated previously most of the furniture needed some cosmetic repair or replacement. The food was fantastic and plenty of it. It was fine dining at reasonable prices. The cost of the drinks is what you would expect for a 4 star hotel. My husband made frequent use of the sauna/pool and found it very relaxing. The management allowed us to swap a lunch in the restaurant that was part of the offer for a packed lunch, we were very grateful because there was no way that we could have eaten a Lodore breakfast, lunch and dinner in the same day good as the food was! All in all we enjoyed our stay and would stay at the Lodore again but only on a similar special offer.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms are worth the extra cost
