“Never ever again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

Checking in was an ordeal and would have shamed even Basil Fawlty! The man on reception didn't seem to understand english. We had already booked rooms on-line and kept pointing to our names on his reservation list but he was determined to book us 3 new rooms. The first thing we noticed when we eventually got to our room was the overpowering smell of air freshner - despite this being a non-smoking room it reeked of stale smoke and there was a dirty ashtray left in it. The bathroom was filthy and in need of a good scrub to remove a number of stains on the floor/bath. Thankfully it was for one night only so we got up very early next morning and went elsewhere for breakfast.

“Avoid this at all costs! A tent would be preferable even in January!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

We arrived at the dirty reception and my card payment was asked for immediatley. Electric xmas decorations were hanging at the dirty windowswith about 5 plugs running into an extenstion lead. We were allocated to room 2 which overlooked the car park the curtains were pulled to give privacy, the room was extremely grubby including bedding with stained sheets dirty cup (there was only one) no kettle and very shabby tired furniture. the bed lights did not work. I wish I had never looked in the bathroom it, was sickening the bath panel was blown and peeling there was dirt around the bath the sink was filthy and the plastic waste bin was disgusting. The last time I saw anything as bad as this was when the little girl in Yorkshire was abducted and found under the bed at her uncles. Squalid sums it up perfectly we are struggling to get our money back from the "dishonourable" owners of this dive who offered us another room which was worse than the first.

“Seldom get to say this but WORST acommodation ever!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2010

I've just returned from Stockport, having stayed at this "hotel" for 5 nights , until Thursday night(16th of Dec. 2010).
I very rarely laeve bad reviews as for any thing/place/person/matter in life, as I'm a SPireitual healer and guide and hence have a very patient and tolerant perspective on earthly existance. :)

But even I was pushed to the limit at this hotel, in EVERY way.

Firstly the positives, if one could it that:
a) THe room was neat and tidy(at least), but not that attractive in decor(dark shaed of linen and very unattractive).
b) the room has an en-suite bathroom and toilet (which worked),

c) it had tea-mnaking facilities, a partially working "flat screen" T.V , iron, ironing board, and telephone(which worked)

This is about it .

Now on to the stuff that really pushed my patience.
1) Most of the workers here are not from this country (which is fine by me but.. more precisely, speak not-the-best English. Given the hospitality industry they work in, one would think that they would wise p and learn to speak good English- but this didnt' bother me much as I'm Asian my self and so have no judgements on thismatter, as long as I can understand what they're saying on the phone or at the reception.

2) One the workers here was extremely judgemental in his ways and constantly quizzing me about who i am, and where I'm from(I'm British and work in highly respected engineering fields and he would've known that given that I was dressed smart casual). Anyways, he was eXtremely inquisitive and very very unplesant in his ways- even if that wasn't his intention/. (this happened on all 5 days!)

3) The wi-fi connection in this hotel which I'm HEAVILY dependant upon for work and to spaek to my parnter in the U.S. is CRAP!!! It doens't work in our rooms - ever. But it doesn't even work in the lounge, and when it does, there was always some fool watching football on the public T.V or rambling on in Nigerian(fellow guest). Was one of the most irritating and physically and emotionally uncomfortable experience , EVER!!

4) the price of £40 per night is a RIP OFF, given that this ain't a hotel in London or even Manchester! and given the extremely poor service!

5) the quality of the FOOD("free breakfasts"!?) is so bad that I had to cut down on my consumption in ordre to avoid my stomach going belly up on me! :((( (THe chefs were friendly though, but not cut out for the job!)

6) There is looooooads more I could say, but all I woudl say is................. unless, ur'e stuck on the road with no shelter on a freexzing cold night and can afford £40 per night , and have no common sense, DO NOT stay at this hotel.

I'm very sad to have to leave this review(I don't do reviews generally but I chose to use trip advisor for the FIRST TIME, due to the sheer pain i experienced staying at this place)

I'm sure they will improve their service over time, as I've asked them to read the reviews on this site, and then reflect upon it. IFnot, they will shut down soon! It's inevitable!

Good luck to all !

“£40 a night was £50 too much - DO NOT STAY HERE Basil Fawlty would even complain”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

WOW - All I can say is if the last hotel in the area I would still never stay in this dump again. The rooms ( pictures enclosed) were disgusting. The service was so much of a joke that you had to laugh or end up punching someone. Hotel is run by a group of young lads, who must have had this place left to them in a will or something. They didnt have a clue. Dont even try to have a breakfast as they took 10 mins to serve me and then another 25 to serve ( 4 people actually walked out before I got my breakfast) so I guess I got one of theirs..The toast gave me an idea of what to expect and the very, very strong tea. My toast had been threatened by the toaster

Even the website is a rip off as it has stolen pictures of a five star hotel ( I have no idea how Trading standards allow this to happen)

View my pics to see how real it is - PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE

“2 stars - you gotta be kidding!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2010

I made a booking at the hotel for a friends 40th in the summer. When i called to check the booking in October they had no record of it, so after a very long conversation with a gentleman who didn't seem to understand and spoke very poor english, I booked again and left my credit card details to confirm the booking, and requested they send me an email confirmation, which they did. We were staying at the hotel with 3 other couples, one of which called me on our way up to Stockport on our way from London to let me know that they had already just arrived at the hotel and there was no record of my booking, even tho I had recieved an email confirmation. We arrived and was told that the only room for my partner and I was a single, but my friend who was sorting out the lack of booking had arranged for another bed to be put in the room. Two couples had to share a double room with 2 extra beds moved in as there was also another booking missing, for which we had a print out of the confirmation, and the final couple's room door didn't lock (was fixed in the end tho). Finally the manager arrived and he kicked butt and we were finally given a proper double room. However, the room and en suite were filthy - the manager said he wouldn't employ women to clean because men do a better job - maybe he should have a rethink. There just seemed to be blokes hanging around that seemed to be there to do housekeeping, but were just watching tv in the rooms that they were there to clean. The final straw came when we checked out (we decided it was probably not a good idea to have breakfast - dread to think what the kitchen is like after seeing the state of the rooms). The price on my confirmation was £38 per room, the price our friends were charged was £38 room, the price we were given was £50 - I don't think so - £38 we paid - £38 too much I reckon. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy!
