I recently stayed at the Davenport to attend a training course. How disappointing that so many people have chosen to give a negative report. OK, so it isn't the Ritz, but it was so refreshing to find such charming people running the hotel. They could not do enough to make my stay pleasant and comfortable and I would prefer their personal touches any day to the faceless, humourless hotel chains that are comparable on price. The food is home cooked and very good, the bed was very comfortable and clean - a real home from home. Thank you all for a lovely week - I really feel like a made some friends in Stockport!

Just got back today after 2 night stay on a course. Although the hotel was a little basic, I enjoyed as did the other guys our stay there. Yes, the rooms could probably do with a makeover, the charm of the hotel was clearly evident.

Breakfast was good along with our lunch and the evening meal was always good. The staff and owners were always pleasant and I would go back.

We stayed here for one night visiting friends in Stockport. The hotel is ideal for the 192 bus service into Manchester and is well situated for exploring Lyme Park. We were surprised to be put in Room 8 which is the bridal suite. The room was large with a jacuzzi bath in the ensuite. Although facing the busy A6, we had a very good nights sleep. The room was slightly old fashioned but that is the charm of this family run hotel. Breakfast n the morning was first class. Well cooked and lots of it inc fresh fruit.. We had no complaints at the price we paid £55 for B&B for 2 of us.

This hotel was poor value. Despite a huge bedroom and ensuite bathroom, the decor looked as though it came out of the ark and was pretty disgusting back then. The double bed dipped in the middle, giving us a poor night's sleep, not helped by the lack of double glazing at the front of the building which faces the busy A6. Breakfast was OK apart from the lack of real coffee - Nescaff only. Staff were OK, but the whole place needs to be jerked into the 21st century. Cheap, but still overpriced.
