DO NOT BOTHER

Myself and my wife booked in for 1 night after coming to stockport to visit friends and family. We were greeted, took our money gae us the key told us where the room was but no mention of ' Fire Exits' if needed or the procedure........Room was disgusting a leak in the bathroom etc

I'm absolutely astounded that there is a four star review on here about this hotel! It was filthy, cold and smelt bad. Any hotel with the TV remote chained to the bedside table and communal bathrooms in the corridor should be avoided in Britain in 2011! They obviously did not wish to put the heating on despite it being cold and there was little hot water. The bed was clean but the floor, carpet, radiators were revolting. The carpet didn't even fit the room! The wardrobe was broken down and would be hard to shift at a jumble sale. In the foyer are picture frames of weddings held there with thank you letters - dated 1989, 1991 and 1995. that was clearly when this hotel was good. Avoid at all cost.

Where do I start? This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I am writing this from the hotel at 5.18 am. It is too hot to sleep. The (very) hot water pipes keep making loud noises. There are blood stains on the duvet which is not in a cover. The bed is made up of two unmatching divan bases of different heights which are broken and heavily stained. They look like they have been rescued from a dump. I feel disgusted. I could cry. I could go on and on. Do not come here.

We had our wedding breakfast and reception at the Davenport Park hotel and cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did to make our day special. Their garden had made beautiful wedding pictures. The staff bent over backwards from beginning to end. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Adding to this they undercut the surrounding hotels considerably while still supplying fantastic food everybody is still talking about. The comments about the decor are valid the rooms are dated, however they were clean and comfortable and the bathroom in the bridal suite was fabulous. We set out for a warm family wedding and with The Davenports help we pulled it off. Our day could not have gone better Thank you so very much.
