“Wonderful Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

We have just returned from a great weekend at Lily Bank Farm, and what a place! A great cottage, we had a lovely room with ensuite and a great view.
Emmy & John were great hosts, Emmy's breakfasts were delicious and a great way to set up for a little mountain biking.
After much encouragement, I joined the group for a MB ride. My skills were non-existent, but after careful, clear instructions from Emmy (including demo's and practice), we set off! Although a real MB novice, I received great encouragement from John & Emmy. Back at the farm it was great to re-energise with Emmy's fantasmagorical fairy cakes and marvellous macaroons, it was hard not to feel at home with the cats & lovel Lily the dog.
Highly recommended, we shall be back for more!

Room Tip: We stayed in an ensuite room with a great view!

“Mountain biking expert and cosy, friendly B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

We had an excellent weekend break here despite the fact it rained all weekend! The cottage is exactly the kind of place you want to come back to after a long day on the hills, the very friendly cats and dog as well as the fantastically moist carrot cake are literally the cherries on top!
Emmy is so welcoming and helpful as well as a great biking instructor and seemingly tireless. This place is really set up for bikers with MTB routes printed and laminated maps for you to take out with you as well as fantastic packed lunches. The homemade Foccacia sandwich was a life saver at the top of Rushup Edge. Emmy might even wash and dry your biking gear over night so you can make the most of your weekend on the bike!
There are quite a few pubs in walking distance yet there is a pleasant feeling of seclusion. The kind of B&B you always hope to find - it gives you a mixture of feeling entirely at home but with elements of luxury and exceptional service. The excellent home cooked food and character of the cottage is a great example of how this quite inexpensive B&B punches well above it's weight.

“just lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2011

The title says it all really. We had a great short break here 2 nights for our 1st wedding anniversary and wished we'd taken more time off work and could've stayed longer.
A big thanks to Emmy a great hostess and cook. unintrusive yet very friendly service.
Warm welcome was also recieved from Lily the dog very friendly and happy to see you everytime you come in.
To summarise rooms are clean, attractive and tastefully decorated as is the whole cottage.. Ensuite showeroom was high standard. Bed, with duvet, very comfortable we both slept really well.
Nice little lounge for guests to use with tv to watch dvds and selection of dvds available.
Breakfast was what you hope for when staying away , gd quality bacon sausage eggs cooked perfectly scrambled and poached. Preordered the night before and xl portion option available which suited me perfectly. Vegetarian breakfast for Mel was also great, with good quality veg sausage and pancakes on the second day - que big smiles allround. Emmy was kind enough to provide soya milk on the second day when just mentioned inpassing after our 1st breakfast.
We chose to eat in for our second night and wished we had for both. Several dishes to choose from and on a par with a good quality restaurant, Very good value and whats better you can ask for recipies, our first key lime pies in the fridge now.
Convenient little pub a short walk away. Maps available to borrow and good advice local knowledge from Emmy.
Thanks once again we had a lovely stay and highly recommend.

Matt & Mel.

Room Tip: do try Emmy's cooking (key lime pie is fab.) ,

“Amazing weekend!”

I found this b&b on tripadvisor and I cannot agree more with the previous reviews. The owners made us feel very comfortable and gave us great tips about where to go and what to do. We choose the bedroom with private bathroom and the view on the valley in the morning was absolutely amazing. Very clean bedroom and bathroom, excellent breakfast. Nice company of the animals in the house. We loved it!

“Thoroughly recommended”

This is a brilliant experience from beginning to end. Emmy and her family/pets make you feel right at home. Although you have your own lounge the cats and Lily the dog will still come to say hello. The house is the perfect combination of rustic charm with sympathetic and very comfortable updating (no chintz in sight thankfully!). Special mention to the shower in our room which was just amazing - especially after a day's bike riding.

Nothing is too much trouble for Emmy, breakfasts are brilliant - what we tried of it - there was too much choice to get through everything in our two days. You really get the feeling that they are pleased to have you and are not taking the trade for granted (a particularly impressive achievement when you look at how packed their guest book is). John and Emmy also cooked us a wonderful evening meal which was easily up to the standard you would expect from a professional establishment - worth trying if you visit.

All in all a brilliant place to stay, comfortable and welcoming. Don't think twice about booking here - we will be back.
