“More than the Bear necessities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We've stayed here twice now and it really is a lovely place to stay. The rooms (the superior ones at least) are spacious, very well equipped and nicely decorated. The staff are friendly and helpful. Despite a mix-up over our booking (the specific room we'd booked had been given to other guests), the staff did their best to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.

The breakfast available is very good. A decent selection of cold items (pastries, yoghurts, fruit, locally produced granola, cereals etc), plus the option of numerous hot selections. It's a nice treat to be able to have Bury black pudding once in a while.

The restaurant food is very nice, with lots of choice and a good use of seasonal, local ingredients. The ales available on draught are very good too!

The hotel is a short drive from Sandbach, and there is ample parking behind the hotel. It's in easy reach of J17 of the M6.

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My husband & I stayed here whilst visiting family in Sandbach. A wonderful surprise to have found this hotel on the web and did not disappoint! Worth staying in for dinner, lovely dining room, spacious, warm and very comfortable. Room was very spacious, complimentary wi-fi and delicious breakfast included. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip to the Midlands!

“Pure luxury in Cheshire's countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stopped here overnight on the way home from seeing Manchester United last week. On our arrival, we were warmly greeted with a smile and lots of information, before being directed to room 5 where we stayed. Wow - that is one AMAZING room! The decor was immaculate, luxurious and had lots of attention to detail - thank you for supplying plenty of milk for the hot drinks unlike the big chains! The bed was so comfortable - I can only imagine that sleeping on a cloud feels that good. The bathroom was beautifully appointed too, but I was disappointed to see some rather large cobwebs in there.

We didn't stay for dinner, so cannot comment on that. Breakfast was really nice - we both had the full English and much appreciated the local produce as well as excellent taste. The granola was delicious too. I was very disappointed to learn that at 8.30 in the morning (bear in mind breakfast service on weekdays has not finished by then!) we would need to wait 20 minutes for any pastries, especially when the guests at the next table sneaked a couple of croissants into their bags before leaving! At least we know that everything really is fresh!

Despite the lack of pastries, we really did love this little bit of paradise in deepest Cheshire, and hope to return for our wedding anniversary in May this year.

Room Tip: Choose the most expensive room you can afford -room 5 is a true delight

“Absolutely brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The whole experience at The Bear's Paw has been excellent. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The rooms are very well appointed and decorated with the comfiest bed I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in. Everything about this place is pure quality. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I stayed here on business however, I would actually go out of my way to stay here for pleasure as well. It really ranks up there with my favourite hotels in the world. The food is outstanding on all levels and the extensive wine list is also superb. All I can say is, Thank you to you all for making my stay extra special.

Room Tip: I had a standard room and as far as I could tell, there was nothing ''standard'' abo...

“You are in very good hands at the Bear's Paw”

My partner and I stayed here for a few days between Xmas and New Year as a base to visit friends and relatives.
The young staff were very friendly and helpful and the food and wine of good quality.
Our room was very well decorated, with nice finishing touches. The complimentary toiletries were lovely, the beds big and comfortable.
The only negatives were you could hear the kitchen extractor fan from our room, and it would have been nice to have breakfast served until 10.00 a.m. weekdays, to lie in just a little longer.
However, we would definitely recommend the Bear's Paw and stay here again.
