Stayed in room1, the family room with our young daughter. We have never experienced such an unpleasant night in a hotel anywhere. All through the night a very loud extractor fan motor kept coming on every 10 minutes or so, directly underneath our room, often it made the room vibrate as the motor/fan rattled and shook. For a couple of hours we attempted to get to sleep, but it was just impossible, so I went downstairs to try to investigate the problem but all the doors were locked and the place was in darkness. There was not a single member of staff on the premises to report the problem to. (There was just one small side emergency exit door to the car park open). We were not told about the complete absence of night staff when we checked in. There was no phone in the room, nor any emergency staff contact numbers. Very worrying. We endured a night of torture dozing, waiting for the dreadful noise to start again, being startled awake when it did start. It went on all through the night. We went downstairs every half hour from 5am thinking someone should come soon. Finally, just after 7am staff began to arrive. The receptionist told us they had had complaints in the past, the problem was related to the heating system, but the room had not been used in a while and they thought they had fixed the problem. This did not sound convincing. It was a very distressing night especially as we had our daughter with us whose sleep was badly disturbed too. How ludicrous that this terribly noisy room is the only family room. Another issue was a security light that shone directly towards the only window in the room, that kept coming on, through the night. Thankfully we only had to stay one night. We had a long flight that day from manchester airport so as you can imagine we were in pretty poor shape for a very long day of travelling.
No, we shall not ever return to this hotel.
