“Sunday lunch in the restauant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Did not stay overnight in the hotel but ate in the restaurant for lunch. Very good service. Portion sizes were just right for my party, but may be on the small side if you like your plates piled high. Cosy lounge area with a real fire where you can sit and have a drink before going in to the restaurant. Did not feel rushed at all. The food was good and quite good value overall (aroun £22 ph inc coffee & bread roll). Would highly recommend.

“Almost faultless....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We have just returned from this hotel having stayed for 1 night on the Sunday night package. This package cost £159 (including £20 to upgrade to an executive room) and consisted of the room itself, afternoon cream tea (2 scones each), 3 course evening meal and breakfast.

We had previously stayed in an executive room in the original building, but this time decided to stay in the new wing; in my opinion the new rooms are a better option as I really liked the modern bathroom, complete with television and speakers in the ceilling, the later allowed me to have the radio on very loudly as I showered - the radio was needed as the MP3 socket did not work.

The choice of teas in the afternoon was good and they were loose leaf, rather than tea bags. The scones, clotted cream and jam were faultless and were almost a meal in itself as they left us so full. Indeed, we had to move our evening meal back half an hour as we were simply not hungry!

The 3 course evenning meal was very good with sufficient choice that we did not feel the need to pay the suplement to have a la carte. I had wood pidgeon to start, followed by beef and creme brulee to finish; the beef was perfectly cooked.

The breakfast menu was quite extensive and consisted of the usual options (Full English, boiled eggs & smoked salmon with scrambled eggs) as well as cereals and continental meats and cheese in buffet form. However, my partner's breakfast did not arrive with mine, subsequently, I had finished mine prior to her even starting!

Every memeber of staff were polite at all times and helped towards the special feeling. We will be returning!

“Totally wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

My husband and I have just returned from a one night break and it was totally brilliant. The lady on reception was lovely and showed us to our room and offered assistance with our bags. The rooms are amazing - total luxury. The bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The tv at the end of the bath is fabulous. The shower is also awesome. We had an evening meal and enjoyed some of the nicest food we have ever had. The staff were great and really couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was excellent and we liked it that the cooked breakfasts were made to order rather than being self service. Our only disappointment was that we forgot our swimming stuff so couldn't use the spa - we definitely plan to come back again though so will make sure we don't forget the swimming stuff next time. We highly recommend this hotel. It gives you a real taste of luxury and a very reasonable price. You should definitely go - we plan too again very soon!

“Excellent facilities let down by poor customer service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed at Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa 12 months ago. We had a day spa pass with treatments and at the same time we booked an executive room which was absolutly spot on, huge bed, tv at the end of the bathroom and a excellent shower with several body jets.

The spa is excellent, the treatments excellent.

My only gripe was with the room service. We ordered a sandwich and chips - (not cheap). 15 minutes later a knock at the door and a sandwich, NO CHIPS, great !! We asked about the chips and the girl said she would sort it. 45 minutes later!! And some COLD chips arrive. Very disapointed.

Upon vacating the room the following morning and settling up the bill in recpetion I mentioned the dissapointment with the room service, no compensation was offered, nothing. Really put a dampner of an other good stay.

Room Tip: Based on my experience, avoid room service but do pay that extra for an executive room.

Hello,

Thanks for the review from over 12 months ago,

I was so sorry to read that we missed an item off your room service order and that when replaced they were not as they should have been.

I was suprised by the length of time that has lapsed for you to write the response and that the score you gave the hotel was so low concidering the only issue was a portion of chips and that you enjoyed the room and Spa and said they were excellant.

Best wishes

Stephen

“Lovely hotel and nice staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Booked my partner a spa treatment, we decided to stay over night on a Sunday.
From the outside the hotel looks amazing and let me say the inside does not disappoint, we booked a superior deluxe room on the newer part of the hotel with big flat television and also had a television in the bath!
The grounds are lovely for a walk and the hotel even has wellington boots you can use.!
We did not have a meal in the hotel, but let me say the breakfast will not disappoint you.
A must stay hotel
