“Awful value for money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

If this hotel was a third of the price I could accept poor standards of furnishings, room facilities and room size however the room was not cheap so therefore I was extremely disappointed. The room was small, no bed linen was provided for the sofa bed in our room, there was no information regarding the hotel, the bathroom was shabby... The list goes on!
I would never stay here again there is far nicer, cheaper accomodation available. For a Village hotel it is very very poor. Not impressed at all, sorry.

“fab spa weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

have just returned from a spa weekend/night that only cost £69 and for that i had a 3 course evening meal with a glass of wine, all you can eat breakfast, use of all the leisure facilities and one treatment in the spa - excellent value for money!!
the bar is very pricey but on a friday they have a rose special which costs a tener for a bottle which isnt bad for a hotel.
the swimming pool sauna, jaquzzi and steam room are a must, very clean and towels were provided.
the meals couldnt be faulted - gorgeous.
look out for all the special offers that devere/village are doing as there are some good bargain breaks going.

“This place is a dump! I wouldn't put my dog in it!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

On first impression this place looks alright, once you've got over having to drive through an area that looks like Beirut to get to it, the reception is presentable and it all looks rather promising... that unfortunately is where the promise stops. The rooms are tatty and tired and the filthy lampshades look like they have not been dusted since they were installed in the 1980s. The whole room was pokey and felt dirty, it's been a long time since any of these rooms have had any sort of attention lavished on them.

I asked if we could be moved to a room that more closely resembled what had been advertised on the website only to be told that none of the rooms looked like the website because not a single photo displayed had actually been taken at that hotel, apparently they'd used images taken from a recently refurbished hotel - very misleading! although I did give them points for their honesty.

The food was massively overpriced and beyond average, the quality is what you would expect from a Beefeater or Harvester, just 3 times the price.

I didn't even bother trying to use the pool/spa facilities, they were over run with out of control kids from the my-big-fat-gypsy-themed wedding that was going on (bad timing I suppose)

The only good thing about our stay was that we were only booked for one night!

To be honest, I've stayed in a few Devere hotels in the last year and they have all been below par and very shabby. You're better off staying in a travel lodge, Devere really have gone to the dogs!

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel if you want a better room!

“A nice relaxing night away!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Me and my partner went away for a Saturday night, got a good deal including breakfast.

The bedrooms are fine, modern and clean. No complaints, apart from our TV did not work however we weren't that bothered so never raised the question.

The pool is huge, nice sauna, steam room, big jacuzzi. was quiet on a saturday afternoon/evening aswell. The gym looked nice also.

Went in the hotel restaurant about 8.00pm and had the Two Dine for £29. It was very quiet so the service and waiters were lovely. Didn't fancy any starters on the Two Dine menu but they allowed me to have a garlic flatberad with mozzarella included in the deal, which was ENORMOUS for starter, I had a lemon chicken and a cheesecake and my partner had breaded mushrooms, burger and cheesecake and we LOVED all of it, big portions. final bill was around £50.00 with two beers and two large glasses of wine! Can't complain!

Check out and breakfast was til 11.00. Breakfast was a buffet, cereals, fresh fruit. Nice selection.

Overall we had a lovely night away and would recommend it, also the leisure facilities were a nice bonus.

It was quite easy to find the hotel with a sat nav and on the sunday we went to the trafford centre which was only 20 miuntes away.

“Friendly, efficient staff, rooms bit shabby though...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Overall not a bad hotel. Rooms do need an update, but I understand that this is in hand.

Fast check in. Room decent size, beds comfortable. Good size TV, tea and coffee facilities - no biscuits though. No minibar.

Hand wash and body/hair wash dispensers in bathroom - no other toiletries.

View awful - roof of function room (but of course other rooms will have better view, so probably good idea to ask for a room with a reasonable view).

Decor shabby, marked walls, chipped paintwork.

Not as clean as I would have liked with, for example, dirty window sills and mould in bathroom.

Bathroom functional, not huge and in need of an update. Shower over bath.

Drinks a bit pricey for what they are - eg rather rough (tasted £3.99), Pinot Grigio over £16 a bottle.

Swimming pool good, but bear in mind that The Village has numerous leisure members and so is rather busy.

Buffet breakfast OK. Cereals, fruit, bacon, sausage etc.

Noticed that there was no air-conditioning, not a problem in January, but not appealing in summer.

If you can get a good price this hotel is better than a Travelodge overall.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a recently renovated room with a decent view.
