“Tired and ready for a refit and new chef!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

I stayed here just over 3 years ago and was looking forward to returning as I had good memories which included a fantastic menu.
Unfortunately things have changed for the worst. The décor is a lot more tired than I remembered, the room TV's are small 14" portables and really not suitable. The bathrooms were very clean but dated. The beds were covered in very cheap bedding which included a mattress liner which felt and sounded like tracing paper which I removed after my first night.
The worst part of my stay however was the food. The menu was more akin to average pub grub. There were no vegetables on the menu and the choice? was chips with everything. Most food was obviously frozen and often deep fried and soaked in fat.
The staff were very pleasant and very helpful.

“Needs to be refurbished”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

This hotel is situated on a main busy road. It provides free car parking and free wi-fi. The service demonstrated by the staff at the hotel was very friendly and accommodating.

I visited this hotel as I needed to be in the Knutsford area for work and my usual hotel (Cranage Hall) was fully booked..

My room décor was very basic and was in need of redecoration. The room was also slightly grubby with stains on the bedding, furniture and carpet.. The bed provided 'woolly blankets and not duvets. This point, alongside the busy road outside, prevented a good night's sleep. The TV in the room provided free view channels, however the TV itself was very old and dusty.

The bathroom was clean on the surface. However it was very old fashioned and really needed to be ripped out and replaced.

In summary, the hotel would be much better if refurbished. The price was reasonable (£60 per night), however I would always recommend Cranage Hall if in this area.

“Exellent Wedding at a Fantastic Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2010

We had our wedding here in March. Everything about this hotel and the venue as a whole could not have been better. All of the staff were great, especially Denise, who worked very hard all day. She made sure the day went exactly to plan and couldn't have done enough for us.

The wedding breakfast was fantastic, all of the food throughout the day and the next morning was very good. We will definitely be returning for another meal.

We filled the venue to its capacity and had some reservations about how crowded it would be but it was fine. It was slightly crowded for the wedding breakfast but there were no problems.

The evening reception was great. The DJ was in the conservatory with plenty of room for people to dance. Everybody else was spread through the main room and the bar area.

We can't thank all of the staff enough. Thank you for a great day!

“Dated and distinctly average”

Unplanned visit as my usual hotel was sold out due to a big Manchester United football game. I don't plan on returning to Ye Olde Vicarage. Room very dated, furniture has seen better days and the TV is tiny. All clean, but the bathroom had a very stale smell reminiscent of my Grandad's. Food (both dinner and breakfast) average. Free wi-fi was great.
