“Nice hotel for a business stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed in this hotel on a night when the heating had gone wrong and the staff were absolutely lovely. The hotel provided mini heaters in the rooms and you would not have known on such a cold night! The only constructive criticism was they did seem a bit stretched as we had to wait at the bar and at reception, only 2 staff on at the busy time and they were manning the telephone as well. Room was clean and airy and in the morning was nice and warm, lots of space, free wireless internet . Food was good, chef seemed to be willing to cook anything you required if he could! Plenty of rooms for business meetings. The Valentine night looks good, wish we lived nearer ! Would stay again.

“A hotel of two halves”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed here a few times - its certainly a hotel of two halves - the modernised part, and the old part. The modernised part is nice, well done out, decent minibar, near the the main bar, altogether quite nice.

The older part is very disappointing - even worse than the Bell down the road. Very old tired rooms, dirty bed covers, empty mini bar - not even water! Broken fixtures and fittings. You know the type.

Throughout the hotel the wifi is worse than bad. So many hotels cant get this right. Room cable connections good. No cable though - use the one from the TV.

Food and bar good. Reception staff very friendly, bar staff less so.

Breakfast good but the room is quite badly laid out and lacking in a bit of style.

I would recommend if you can ensure you have a newer room, else personally I'll look elsewhere. Have already checked out for tomorrow and I'll stay nearer London.

Room Tip: Take a cable, book a newer room, smile back at the bar staff when they are surly.

“Predictably comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Have stayed a couple of times on business at this hotel in Gerrards Cross and each time enjoy the atmosphere and comfort. Meeting facilities excellent and staff, food and bedrooms v good, would happily stay for pleasure. Always busy and on each occasion I think fully booked but this doesn't compromise quality.

“A night out treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

After a day out we decided to take advantage of a deal and stay at The Bull Gerrards Cross for dinner/bed and breakfast. It was called a romance package or similar and included a bottle of champagne on arrival, suite, dinner bed and breakfast. We received a warm welcome and were told where the room was. The room itself was a suite with good sized bed, sofa, table and flatscreen TV. It overlooked the garden with it's own small terrace/balcony where we sat and had coffee. There was a wedding/party on at the time and we were only aware of the party goers whilst having coffee. The bed was covered in fake petals (not quite what I was expecting but either seen as naff or a nice touch to some) and we had to chase to get the bottle of Champagne after an hour of being there. The restaurant service was good and the food acceptable but the lay out seemed sadly lacking, a large open area with a smattering of tables which presumably doubles as a conference hall/room, otherwise I can see no reason for it being as it is. Whilst the hotel promised so much it was let down by the dining experience. As such it had no character at all and was more akin to an old Butlins. I would have preferred to eat at a local restaurant had we known. The bed was comfortable but not that supportive and did make for a restless nights sleep. When breakfast was served in the room in the morning we took it on the balcony which was nice to be able to do.
