“Excellent Service, Old Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

I loved everyone I interacted with at the Inn and around the village. This is the reason that I give the Inn 4 stars rather than the 3 or lower I would give if I was basing my rating solely on the rooms. The Inn itself has clean rooms, but they are out-of-date. They have a humidifier in each room which I greatly appreciate. However, for those with allergies, it is worth noting that they only have down comforters and pillows. Also, to help with packing, know that they provide shampoos, soaps, conditioners, and shower caps as most hotels do, but they do not have body lotion so don't forget to pack some!

“Nice Place to Stay in Solitude”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

The location is truly ski inn/ski out. I would literally ski right to the door of the Inn that takes you down to your ski locker. The village is small, compact and modern. The front desk staff were all very nice. We had a 4th floor double/double room. It was extremely clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable. Our room (405) was quite large and had a cathedral ceiling. The restaurant at the Inn (Bernard's) was good. We also ate at Kimi's which was just as good if not better. Ski rental is right next to the Inn ($46/day for demo skis) and very convenient. They had Atomic and K2 skis. The boots I got were Head and were nearly brand new. We rode the shuttle in from the airport (Canyon Transportation). I would normally rent skis from somebody in Salt Lake to save a little money but with the shuttle it was not practical. We skiied at Solitude and Brighton. The terrain at Solitude is a little more open and if it is windy it is kind of miserable. Brighton has more tree-lined runs. You can get a lift ticket to ski both and cross back and forth on the Sol-Bright pass. If we go again I would probably stay at the Inn at Solitude but ski a little more at Brighton.

No complaints. Truly unbeatable location. Decent value. Worth the extra coin to get a slopeside view.
Solitude truly is solitude.

“OK place to stay at a Great Resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2011

Love Solitude as a ski resort. It lives up to its name with no crowds, wide open mountain, great powder and nice grooming on the extra wide trails. It was a short trip as my daughter had never been up to 10,00 feet and while the first two days weren't the best weather, the last day was picture perfect.

Took Canyon Transportation which is both a good value and amazingly consistent. Got to the hotel @ 6pm and we waited for a while for ther "bellboy" to show up but it didn't happen. We dragged the bags across the slush and it was fine. Check in was all prepped w/ our complete keys, ski passes, spa and resturant pass. The room was facing the mountain (Beautiful) and was a fair size for 2 of us but would have been tight w/ 4. 2 nice robes in the closet which we wore to the heated pool and hot tub and it was nice.

Restaurants for the first two nights were Kimi's and then St. Bernards and both were extremely good. Daughter went to the spa as part of the package and she said the manicure and facial were nice as well.

They assigned us a ski locker which was enough space for the two of us in the basement and then an easy exit to the mountain which is literally a very short walk across the bridge. Apex and Sunrise lifts are right there at the bridge and they scoot you all to various parts of the mountain.

So what was wrong? Low water pressure and inconsistent temperature in the morning shower, unable to control the heat in the room, lack of towels two days and the front desk gave us such a hard time as we tried to check out at 12 noon the last day instead of 11am (? what are you nuts at a ski resort and there was noone waiting in the lobby for the room) that it made it VERY uncomfortable. The sleep quality was tough w/ the heat as we tried to balance how hot it was going to end up at 3am and it did wake me up every night.

Love the resort but a mixed bag at the inn.

“Extremely Cozy with Fantastic Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2010

Visited Solitutude with the family last week...tons of snow and a great lodging experience. The Inn has a great European elegance, with spacioius rooms and super clean bathrooms. Took the family to dinner downstairs at St. Bernard's - the food was spectacular and the staff treated us like family. Will definitely return.
