For context… I was there over a January weekend, and my party had two cabins -- one ocean view (raised on stilts, 2Br + full kitchen & living room, incl sofabed + deck) and one beach view (1Br + full kitchen & living room, incl sofabed + screen porch)
Cabins:
- Quite clean and comfortable. Décor varies from cabin to cabin.
- Periwinkle ocean view cabin: 80's-ish decor. Electric juicer for the juicing oranges, and dishwasher came in very handy. Spacious bedrooms.
- Periwinkle has a large deck overlooking the beach. Terrific spot for viewing sunrise and having a coffee & OJ in the morning. Contained a table & chairs, along with a few more lounge chairs.
- Stilted cabins have picnic table, hammock, torches, and grill underneath the cabin. Somehow, a hammock underneath a building doesn’t seem all that inviting.
- Queen conch is right in front of the beach – the best spot in the resort! More rustic and “cabin-y” on the inside. Screened porch looks right out to the beach and it's tiki umbrella, lounge chairs, tiki torches, and hammock. There’s also a wicker seat with a fabric cushion – nice enough to look at I guess, but seems odd (and not at all useful) to have a fabric cushion when it gets humid enough every night for it to be soaked and not dry out all day – never could sit on this seat throughout my whole stay there. Never mind – who needs it when there’s a hammock?!
- In both cabins, sofabed not too comfy; in both cases, slept on the top rather than having it pulled out. Worked out for us with having only one person planned to sleep there, but if you’re planning on 2 in the sofabed, might be a bumpy night.
Resort:
- Nice. Clean. Well-maintained.
- Plenty of space between/amongst the cabins. They are not crammed together. The resort was full for the weekend, but didn't seem like it - it was nice and quiet.
- Nice common area with large tiki-type shelter and plenty of seating. Situated on the harbor.
- Pool was just being filled up during our stay, so can’t comment on it really. Seemed ok; on the small-ish side.
- Library of reading materials available in the office, as well as a really handy list of attractions & restaurants that is arranged by mile-marker – very helpful!!
Food:
- Continental breakfast: one per occupant: bagel, muffin, croissant. Plus coffee, creamers, sweeteners. Delivered 8-9am to your door.
- 7-8 juicing oranges provided. It seems that some cabins have electric juicers and some have manual.
- Key Lime pie was complimentary with our reservation, but was not good. Tasted like feet.
- No café or other food service available that I noticed.
Location:
- halfway down the keys. Very long drive from Key Largo; very long drive from Key West. But great if you want to hang out at the resort or in the larger key/city of Marathon or visit Bahia Honda park.
Service:
- Great. Patty was very welcoming and friendly, as was the rest of the staff that I saw (though they’re pretty stealthy; didn’t see a lot of staff hanging about – which was nice and contributed to the very secluded feel).
- Patty was very accommodating with a request about breakfast and actually much more so than we were asking for.
- Really pleasant service experience over all.
