“Family Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Our family, consisting of three adult daughters, two son in laws, my 80 year old Mother, my husband and myself just spent one week in Villa 109, a three bedroom ocean view villa. It was perfect for us to cook great meals, play cards and games on the patio, work out on the lawn, sun and swim on the beach and generally enjoy ourselves. It is quite private, especially #109 because it is the end villa. The housekeeping staff kept the villa spotless and were very accomodating. The restaurant was closed for renovations so we had the complimentary breakfast delivered to our private patio every morning, consisting of coffee, fresh orange juice, fruits, pancakes and french toast. Some mornings we also got yogurt and granola and I'm sure you could ask for that every morning. The office staff where happy to help with anything you needed, from a taxi, restaurant recommendation, snorkel equipment, foam toppers for the beds, etc. Our family enjoy the beach and ocean so it didn't matter to us, but the pool is a little small. Water shoes are an absolute must since it can be quite rocky getting into the ocean and walking on the beach. Akumal Beach is a 15 minute walk on the beach and I highly recommend going snorkelling there since the coral, fish and turtles are a great experience. There are two little grocery stores there, a wonderful gallery for high quality souvenirs and great restaurants. We ate at Ceuves Pescadaro the first night on the recommendation of the office staff. It was good but not great. Once we discovered Turtle Bay Cafe, it didn't make sense to eat anywhere else. The menu is extensive and everything the 8 of us had was amazing. We ate one dinner and two lunches there. The food a Lo Ha, right on Akumal Beach was also really good and a great location for lunch. We rented a catamaran from Akumal Dive Shop for the two hour sunset cruise and it was one of the highlights of our vacation. We had it all to ourselves and the captain did everything to make sure we had a blast. Unlimited beer, softdrinks, water and snacks were offered and he was glad to take us into the lagoon to snorkel. We loved being splashed by the big waves, so he would go right into the waves for us. Overall, the location is perfect for peace and privacy but it is just a short walk down the beach for the action. We were able to access wi fi on the lawn or by the pool or on the beach but not inside our villa. I would suggest that if you like to cook your own meals, you bring some spices but other than that, everything was easily available.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room for accessability and Villa 109 was an end unit making it even more priva...

“Loved our stay here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

The two bedroom villa was great, as the kids could spread out and have their own room. It's in a quiet location on a nice beach. The waves were rough while we were there, so we didn't spend time in the water. But, there were some good photo opportunities on the nice beach. It felt like we were the only people there, which was nice after spending the previous seven nights in Cancun. The hotel doesn't serve food after 3 pm. We had a car, and it was a short drive to the beach restaurants at Playa Akumal.
It was a short drive from here to Tulum, Coba and Yal-Ku lagoon.

It is simply hard to find so many qualities in just one place such as natural beauty, quietness, piece, and there are so many cool places to take the kids to. A great option for recharding the batteries!

Room Tip: Beach front is a must

a new thing this morning was Yoga on the beach at 6:30 while the sun was rising. no music but the sound of the waves. very nice...to be followed by some green juice. Not a health fanatic but it makes you feel so alive and healthy when you are here. I just look so forward to coming back.

Room Tip: we stay in 201, on top floor with a palapa roof, very private and away from the center villas where...
