“Winter Getaway”

Just returned from the Bahia...had a wonderful time...have stayed at Bahia before however not this one and you know exactly what you are getting. :) We stayed Royal Golden and got a room right on the beach as per our request...the views were spectacular and the sunrise's were amazing. Everything was convenient, snack bar, pool, private lobby and a restaurant for breakfast. Disappointed to have to pay for room safe...this is our 5th time at a Bahia and have never paid before even if we didn't stay in Royal Golden, just as returning guests. The shows at this hotel were very good and the food was excellent. The Don Pablo is a must...the show table at the Mikado was excellent...we also went to the Portofino and the Grand Tortuga which is the brazilian...lots of meat on a sword and it just keeps coming as long as you leave you card up the green side. Went swimming with the dolphins in the hotel and had a great time....I feel the pool is too smalll for the dolphins ..however they seem to be treated well and the trainer took a lot of time explaining about dolphin life and she was very gentle and really seemed to care about the dolphins. Went to Playa del Carmen shopping via the collectivo and enjoyed this. If you are a beach goer then this is not really the hotel for you ,,beautiful beach, lots of shade however not much swimming there...however lots of snorkeling and just walking in the water many fish swimming around you..All in all a great time and will be going back..... Just a note now about the flight..flew Air Transat and decided this time to fly Club Class..it was well worth the extra money..super fast check in..get on the plane right away and while waiting for everyone else to get on you get drinks and snacks...the food was awesome and served with cloth napkins and real cutlery..the stewards and stewardess very attentive and for the first time didn't have to stand in line to wait for the bathroom :) also luggage first off the plane..so back here we had our luggage and left before the other luggage was even unloaded...bonus since at this point you just want to get out and get home... would recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to be squished in a seat for hours. :) :) Oh yeah try the mango daiquiri ...yummie!!!

“Good Times”

Returned Feb 10 from a week well spent. Food was great , Villa 66, so that was good and weather was OK .Our experience has been that you can always count on the Bahia. First time at this one though and a couple of things were lacking.compared to others we have visited. . Was disapointed that the room safe was not included in the Royal Golden package so a few $ extra. Also they had a Mexican Fiesta on Thursday night at the Hacienda with an extra charge while providing no other entertainment throughout the hotel . As we were leaving the following morning on a 6.30 am transfer didn't feel like spending another $32 for a couple of hours at most . We go away every year at the same time so a Super Bowl is usually part of the fun .This is the only place I've been where snscks were not offered during the game.. Other then those issues had a great time and would return.

“Fantastic wedding and holiday”

We had been to the Coba resort five years ago and decided to return to the Akumal resort for our wedding. There were 17 in our party including our two young children - 4 years & 2 years old. We had a fantastic holiday. The resort is immaculate. We found the food, staff and facilities great. Our wedding day went perfectly and the wedding staff were very helpful in ensuring that our day went to plan. The onsite photographer took some amazing photos of our special day. It is very good value for money. We would definitely recommend the resort.

“Great place, so huge you do not need to leave the resort!”

We stayed in the royal golden section, this is closest to all ammenities. This resort is absolutely huge. They do provide transportation all around the resort, but because it is made up of villas there is still a lot of walking. The royal golden is the best section to stay in because it is close to the beach, the main lobby, pool and all entertainment. villa 66 has the best view from the royal golden section. This place provides everything, safety, nice clean rooms, entertainment nightly, beach bars, swim up bar. Although it was a very quiet resort. I think 2 weeks was too long in 1 resort. It all got to be too routine and we got tired of the same food. The buffets were good and there a lot of choices for a la carts. (Take advantage of them) Don Pablio our favourite, great food and excellent service. The weather was not always great and for the 2 weeks we were there the red flag never got changed. So it was usually windy which was great when it was blue sky. If you leave the resort to venture to other towns, the safest and cheapest way to get around is by the collectivos. This is white vans that are parked out at the entrance of resort. (on the highway) For 300 paceos per person they will take you anywhere..Beware of taxis. We went to the town of Tulum, I felt pretty safe and it was enjoyable to shop for trinkets to take home. There is a beach in the little town of Akumal that was breathtaking..well worth the 10 minute ride...Recommend this place...you really do not need to leave the resort.. have fun!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Royal Golden section in the # 67 villa, this was over looking the ocean, but you st...
