“Do not be in a rush...”

We had an idea what to expect since we had reviewed this resort and some of the reviews were right on. Check in is slow(need more people at desk) and they never answered when we called from room. Only one day when room was cleaned before 3pm. Staff were friendly but many didn't speak English. We were supposed to have poolview room and while part where we were in was poolside, our room was not. It was at other end of building. Also, hot water is opposite to ours and takes awhile to come through. We did get room changed next day. They do have many pools and bars although no bar available before 10am. Food was fairly decent and both a la carte meals were excellent. We had italian and gourmet. Steak was great. Loved the setting. Beautiful location. Recommend Mexico but would chose different resort next time. Resort was very clean though.

Room Tip: Oceanview are the best and very close to ocean. Worth the extra money

“almost paradise..........”

Just spent 10 days at Be Live Grand Riviera Maya resort. 6 of us had one our best vacations ever at this quiet refuge in a jumbled up world. DO NOT believe the negative reviews people submit about this slice of heaven. $1000 for ten days was "almost free"! We have been to Jamaica-Punta Cana-Puerto Vallarta-Cancun. Sandals-Couples-Palladiums-Iberostars. Dollar for dollar this is an amazing deal. The beach is truly a sight to behold and be on. The sunrises!!!!! The snorkeling is the best anywhere money or not. The resort is old, but well maintained and clean. One of the cleanest beaches by far. The wonderful people who work there will die trying to make your stay the best. If there is any problem at all, they could use a few more employees in certain areas. The food is excellent. The variety adequate. The specialty restaurants are all good. I recommend the Gourmet and Mexican. A shout out to Antonio, Manuel, Filiberto, Francisco, and Isabell. If you're looking for a quiet beachfront resort for a terrific value, this is it hands down!!!!

“Seven days we will never get back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

It is an old Oasis hotel.
Rooms: Our room was ok. No water one day, no electricity another. But the room was clean.
As for the couple we were travelling with, their room was terrible. They had a sliding door and it would not shut, nor did it even have a lock on it. The toilet leaked at the floor and they awoke
next morning to sewage in the bathroom on floor. The smell was not good at all. They were moved to another room, after asking for an entire day. This room had no air conditioning. It had an old non-usable efficiency kitchen in it, in which some of the stove top burners were missing with wires sticking out, and a fridge just sitting there not plugged in with door not able to shut.
Food: It was a filler and that's about it.
Drinks: Did not think it could be possible to mess up a drink. The only drink we felt ok to have
was the beer.
Beach: Small beach, take along your water socks because it is very rocky in the water.
Staff: Cleaning staff and bartenders were very nice and friendly. The front desk staff were rude. Except for Oscar at the front desk who helped us to our room the first night. He was kind and very helpful and seemed to enjoy what he was doing.
If cheap is what you are after, this is the place.
We are not picky people at all. In fact, where ever we go, we are the ones that make the best out of any place good or not so good. At the Be Live it was impossible to do.
Before we went, we read reviews and there were good and there were not so good, but we truly went with a positve attitude, as we all work hard, long hours and were excited to get away and enjoy. After being there just one day, we really did wonder who the travellers are that thought this place was a good thing. Maybe there is some secret place at the Be Live where people had good rooms, good food and good drinks, we are not willing to take that chance ever again.

“Quirky but fun”

We returned last night from 8 glorious and sun-drenched days at the Be Live. We had stayed at an Oasis chain hotel in the Dominican Republic 2 years ago so we kind of knew what to expect. Don't let any of the negative reviews scare you. The rooms are a little dated, but the friendly staff more than makes up for that. They are all trying very hard and I give this resort 3 and a half stars for their efforts. The buffets were adequate, but didn't change much from day to day. We had very good dinners at both the Gourmet and the Brazilian ala cartes. A decent meal at the Asian, and the Italian not so much. The ala cartes have fixed dinner menus so I imagine the quality and menu change depending on which day you go. We had an ocean view room which was literally a stone's throw from the ocean. We were on the 2nd floor and slept with the patio door open every night, listening to the waves crash onto the shore. Our king size bed was VERY comfortable. The Mexican people are very hard working and were eager to please us. Despite media headlines, we never felt unsafe either at the resort or on the 2 excursions we took. For the money, it would be hard to find a better vacation. Give it a try.

“Relaxing Vacay Right On The Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

First and foremost, this is a place to go to when you want to relax and de-stress. Not really a crazy late night party atmosphere as the night pretty much comes to an end at around 1am. With that being said... this was THE most relaxing, peaceful vacation I have ever been on.

The best this about this resort is that it is RIGHT ON THE BEACH. The shoreline was SO close to our 2nd floor balcony-- it was just dreamy. When they say ocean view rooms, they really mean it!

The food was average. The drinks were average. But the beach made up for that anyways. The staff were so helpful and kind. They really made us feel at home.

Beachlovers -- this place is for you. Soak up the sun.. swim/snorkel with a million fish until you get hungry and just walk a few steps back to the main resort.

This resort will forever have a place in my heart! No resort is perfect but I would rather have an amazing beach over having a gazillion types of booze. It all depends on what you're going for.

Hope to see you again sometime Riveria Maya!!

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are awesome!
