“Good Nookies!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2010

OK
This as at the end of the business travelers choice, but youhad to grit your teeth!
The bd sheets were clean!
If you were in the 1950's the setting would be great with the crumbling decor!
Wait until after 8 pm then you have a great selection of Goody girls wanting to to greet you for the night.

Just remember to push the wardrobe across the back of the door each night!

“Bad choice”

Visited Torreon in June '06. HOtel Rio Nazas was the worst hotel of a 3 week trip. Searched for reviews in Trip Advisor & found one which stated that the hotel was "acceptable", but we could only handle it for 1 night, since we arrived very late & did not have the luxury of searching further. If you are a backpacker or hostel traveler, you should not let this review turn you off since it was $35 for a double, but this place is rought if you expect even minimally more. Built perhaps 15-20 years ago it was probably very nice in its early glory days, but they have not spent a cent on maintenance since it first opened. Upon arriving, the exterior is not too bad. However, as you enter you immediately notice that something has happened to this place, & it is not good. The restaurant/bar area is filled with temporary folding furniture & has the look of a hotel that is actually closed. The lobby has a high ceiling with several chandelier that were nice when installed, but you can tell that this is a place that hard times came to many years ago. The elevators are rundown & when you exit on the floors you realize that you have made a mistake in thinking things will improve. The rooms are dark, dreary & depressing. The carpets are dirty & stained, & the bath had an open drain filled with cigarette butts & other trash. The bottomof the tub was so old & worn & rusted, that there was not a single spec of enamel left on it. The drapes were falling off the hooks & the windows were cracked & broken. No TV since someone had long ago punched holes where the controls had once been. The fact that a hotel would leave something like this hanging on the wall for all these years is indicative of the total lack of maintenance. Sleeping was a real challenge, not only because the "central AC???" was only barely working, but because of the noise in the hallway. We didn't even want to know what was going on with the yelling scream fests that took place in the hallway periodically throughout the night, but we did push a chest against the door for reassurance. If you "must" stay in the central downtown area of Torreon, then I suggest the Hotel Calvete which is only $10-15 more, but a world apart & only 3 blocks away. Though nothing impressive in itself, The Calvete is the Taj Mahal compared to the Rio Nazas.
