Ok..where do I start.
First the negatives:
1. First of all I'd like to say the "Classic" rooms by the pool are small, old and poorly maintained. I was told later that the "Executive Rooms" were bigger and newer. Wish I had known this before I made the reservation. I was moved to 3 different rooms during my 4 night stay. The first room Rm. 116 had an outside light directly in front of the window with a drape that could not stop the light from seeping in (poor design)...so I asked to be moved the following day. The front desk was accomodating so they moved me upstairs to rm. 212. Rm. 212 had a leaky toilet where everytime you flushed, water (quite a bit of it) seeped out of the bottom of it causing a mess in the shower (disgusting). We called maintanence that evening, but they never showed up. We were finally moved to rm. 214 the following day, and that room was ok for the remainder of the trip.
3. Music played at the pool past 1:30am! Every night, music (load enough to hear in your room) was being played by the pool. When calling the front desk, they said it was programmed to come on and off and "could not turn it off". My question is, if the pool closes at 10pm, why doesn't the music shut off at 10pm!! This made for a very hard night's rest.
4. When we checked in, we were told local phone calls were 69 cents each USD (or the peso equivelant.) Found out at checkout they were $1.00/min USD! We had a $20 phone call bill at the end of our 4 day stay.
5. Poor service. Had four people in my room (2 adults, 2 children) and only had 3 towels, so I requested a fourth. The front desk informed me they would drop it off. It never happened until 6:15am the following morning!!
6. Poor Service again at check out. The front desk took over 30 minutes to check me out (there was no one except me checking out). They couldn't get my bill right (and still isn't right), plus insisted I pay for a broken iron ($30). I had a guaranteed rate of $90 USD + 18% tax and they billed me for $94 + 18% tax, plus $20 in phone calls, plus a broken iron.
The only positive:
Breakfast was good. Great service to my family and lots to choose from.
Overall Rating: Poor. I would say the WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER! Definetely not up to par with the hotel maintanence quality and service level of any Holiday Inn I have experienced in the US. Now many people will say "this is Mexico, this is expected". Not when you are paying over $100 USD a night. If I wanted a $50/day hotel, I would have booked one.
I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone and will not be returning. I hope the management is reading this review and can seriously fix their customer service and their rooms!
