“Not as close to Teotihuacan, or as awesome as I'd hoped but still great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

It's not as nice as some of the other archeological hotels in Mexico (like the Mayaland in Chichen Itza...I commented to my husband on the phone that "this place wanted to be the Mayaland when it grew up") but overall still quite nice.
Lovely rooms, walkways, gardens and fountains....a short taxi ride to the site..don't believe the desk worker who may tell ya you can walk there...you can but it is a long boring walk along a road, and then you are at the 'wrong' entrance that is another LONG LONG LONG hard hard hard walk (up the ave of the dead -aptly named- )to the main pyramids part of the city.
Take the taxi to the other gate, near the pyramid of the sun, and Pyramid of the moon.

“Peacefull place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

I stayed there for 1 night in order to take my flight in a air balloon next day. It was a nice and quietn afternoon, almost no sound at all. Didnt ate there, but I heard it was ok.

The spa is ok, really small, but ok
Tennis court looks abandoned. and the pool is a bit cold, but they heated it sometimes

It was a nice stay, just to rest, relax and do almost nothing

“Delightful Hotel Literally Next Door to the Pyramids!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2011

This delightful hotel is located 1 km or about 1/2 a mile from Puerta 1 of the Teotihuacan Zona Arqueologica. The ruins complex has 5 Puertas or gates where you can enter the complex. We arrived via bus from the Mexico North Central bus station and were dropped at Puerta 1. The walk with luggage was a litle challenging as the road was paved with cobblestones.

The hotel is very nicely decorated and reasonably well maintained. The pool area was where most people congregated and was a pleasant space. I particularly liked the western saddles that were used as bar stools. The staff here do not speak very much English. This did make it a bit difficult to ask questions during our stay and in advance of arrival. Their web site is easy to use to book reservations. While you do have to provide a credit card for the booking, this is only to guarantee the reservation. They will actually charge your card when you check out.

The wireless internet really isn't usable. The signal was too low in the rooms so I had to go to the pool area but for most of our stay there was simply no internet connection available. I could connect to the wi-fi access point but there was no internet availability.

The rooms were nicely decorated in an old colonial style which added a great deal to the ambiance of the place. There were actually ruins located right on the hotel property as well. It was a pleasure to be able to view the pyramids before and after the daily bus crowds.

The food and service was okay. The prices were not as low as you might hope but given the extreme proximity to the ruins complex is was not bad. We actually found an authentic family run restaurant next door that we visited twice. The walk from this hotel to Puerta 5 (about 3/4 mile) was lined with small eateries and shops. If you want a unique eating experience, you should consider eating at La Gruta which is located directly adjacent to Puerta 5. This Mexican style restaurant is located in a cave near the Pyramid of the Sun.

One thing that did occur while we were visiting is that someone attempted to break in to one persons room during the night. She was located on the ground floor and when she started moving around the person ran away immediately. They apparently thought the room was empty. I would recommend a second floor room.

Overall our stay was very pleasant. The staff were all very friendly and the visit to the ruins an experience to remember. I would recommend this hotel.

“great location - wonderful to be at Teotihuacan before and after the day buses are there”

This was our fourth Villas Arq (inc. Coba, Chichen Itza, Cholula), so we sort of knew what to expect. The rooms were pretty much the same as the other three - small, but clean, and nicely kept.

The great thing about this hotel is the location - staying right next to the Teotihuacan site means you are there early in the morning and late at night, before and after the day buses from Mexico City are there. So you can be there when things are much less crowded, and then rest in the heat of the middle of the day if you wish. (It wasn't too hot in November, but I imagine in summer that a cool place to retreat to might be really welcome...)

We had a car, so we were able to eat dinner at one of the restaurants in the little nearby town, but we ate breakfast at the Villas Arq, and it was pretty much an average meal.
