Let's see.... how can we praise Real Aduana in terms that travellers haven't already used.... "Elegant", "peaceful" "charming", " are already taken. Oh well. How about our hosts, Didier and Gemma: "Thoughtful", "Gracious", "Attentive". Never mind, you get the idea. We couldn't have imagined a more welcoming ending to an arduous day's drive from Guanajuato than stepping through the gates into the oasis that is Real Aduana. It should get a mention in 'A Thousand Places to See...' PS: Didier, thanks for the Lugansky tutorial. I bought the CD.

The casa, is carefully keep by Gemma y Didier who have made this hacienda like house a charm and picturesque but modern place to stay. They personally welcome you and the staff is very well trained.

What I liked most was my Architectural-Digest-like room (they only have five), the breakfast near the fireplace and their huge DVD collection which is perfect at night with a complementary tea after wandering in the colourful Patzcuaro.

It's very clean and very centric.

It's a little expensive but it's worth every penny since it's an unmatchable experience in the magical Patzcuaro.

When we tired of out beautiful room we would tour the rest of the hotel, visiting the library, the office, circling the patio every inch a treat for the eyes: paintings, sculpture....We orded a special dinner of salmon which was perfectly prepared, the wine well selected. We savored every moment of the experience and enjoyed interesting conversations with our hosts.

We were in Patzcuaro on business but the owners of this boutique hotel made us feel like we were also on a mini holiday. The entire staff will do anything to insure their clients comfort. The ultimate in amenities..the best of bed linens, great shower and hot tea and snack in the suite at the end of the day. The breakfast is beautifully prepared...gourmet delicious and served in a dining room that would rival any location in the world. The owners will help with any detail to make your stay memorable. This destination is like no other....the small details and charm of this boutique hotel have to be experienced to be believed. We work all over Mexico and rarely find a home, let alone a hotel, that reaches this level of elegance!
