“Part Time Operation”

We were invited by friends to visit the area for the Day of the Dead at the last minute. We tried hotels in town but they were understandably all booked up. We called this place and they told us that there was no problem. That should have been an indication. We arrived to be dropped off at the gate which was a hefty walk to the main part with our luggage. The noise from trucks was the most disconcerting of the stay. The rooms are cold and smell of mildue and mold. Breakfast and coffee in the place was the only redeeming value in the place. We were one of two couple in the whole place. The place has about 15 cottages and looked like a ghost town. The help speaks little to no English so it was a little difficult to ask for directions and other information. On our many trips to town we saw many nicer properties we had wished we had stayed at. The place is NOT a hotel but a B&B and looking at the listings on the B&B side it listed many more reviews which I wish we had read prior to coming there. The place is also in need of service, our bathroom had leaking faucets and was very cold. If you enjoy real rustic cabins then this is your kind of place. We will be coming back to Patzcuaro again but will choose another place to say the least.

“Relaxing place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2011

Just outside patzcuaro on the road to uruapan. 10 cabins in a piece of forrest. The cabins are comfortable with good beds, a fireplace, a small porch / terrace and a small tv. The ones closest to the road can be a bit noisy with the trafic passing by. The restaurant has a set menu at night and is really nice. The breakfast is included as wel. Nice detail is that you get cofee served on your own terrace in the morning. The room price includes a horseback ride. There is a spa as well and some small hiking trails.really relaxing environment.

“Peaceful & quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

This hotel is relaxing and quiet, the best place to escape from loud and busy Patzcuaro and have a good sleep, very good food. and breakfast is the best in the area. It´s only convenient if you have a car, it takes only 5 minutes to get to Patzcuaro´s downtown.
Still a good heating system in the rooms would be appreciated and more light at night in the gardens and some nice comfortable benches to relax during the day inside the property.
I´ve stayed here a couple of times and definetely it´s one of the best options in Patzcuaro

“Not in town”

I should have looked on the B&B site of the reviews. This is not a Hotel but a Bed and Breakfast run by what appears to be a part time manager.
First day service at Breakfast was great, and that was the last time we had ANY decent service. Sloppy housekeeping and almost non existent service in their dining room made the trip reminiscent of indifferent Mexician attitudes.
Noisy and cold.
About 5 miles our of town so it was not easy to walk around and do much of anything unless you enjoy hiking up a forest.

“we enjoyed every moment !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2007

We had a wonderful time at the Hacienda Mariposas, we enjoyed staying at a luxery hotel that surrounded by a natural forest, luxery hotel that belends with the view that surrounded it. The service at the hotel was very generous, they took care of allthe small details that you might desire on a vacation, hot water jacuzzi, horse riding, a romantic restaurant (with an exellent food)
beautiful furnished rooms with a chiminy for the romantic setting .
Their service was absolutley professional and met all our expectation from a luxery vacation in the nature with 3 children!
I also want to mention their high standards of hygiene in the rooms.
Thank you Hacienda Mariposas!
