We were invited by friends to visit the area for the Day of the Dead at the last minute. We tried hotels in town but they were understandably all booked up. We called this place and they told us that there was no problem. That should have been an indication. We arrived to be dropped off at the gate which was a hefty walk to the main part with our luggage. The noise from trucks was the most disconcerting of the stay. The rooms are cold and smell of mildue and mold. Breakfast and coffee in the place was the only redeeming value in the place. We were one of two couple in the whole place. The place has about 15 cottages and looked like a ghost town. The help speaks little to no English so it was a little difficult to ask for directions and other information. On our many trips to town we saw many nicer properties we had wished we had stayed at. The place is NOT a hotel but a B&B and looking at the listings on the B&B side it listed many more reviews which I wish we had read prior to coming there. The place is also in need of service, our bathroom had leaking faucets and was very cold. If you enjoy real rustic cabins then this is your kind of place. We will be coming back to Patzcuaro again but will choose another place to say the least.
