I made my very first ever road trip through Malehuala on my relocation journey to Mahahual, Mexico. I had no idea what to expect along the way. When I realized Matehaula was the best town to stop for the day I had no idea where to stay for the night. I had not arrived in my expected destination of San Luis Potosi. I called back home in Austin to ask my sister-in-law to Google search hotels in a town I could not even pronounce. She recommended Las Palmas Midway Inn. What a delicious surprise it turned out to be. A little oasis! The rooms were clean and well appointed. We ate at the hotel restaurant. OMG....the BEST margaritas I have EVER had...perfect....all THREE! We ordered the beef tips in red wine over rice....I have to say we were tempted to lick our plates! Service was awesome...Alberto was the best. Our stay at Las Palmas was the highlight of a very long 2,100 mile journey! It was safe, clean, affordable, and great food and service. Please give them a try!

Hi, we are presently at the Las Palmas Midway Inn between USA and Chapala. We were looking for a place that takes dogs as last year we had to drive 11 hours to Tonala to find a hotel to take our dog. Anyway, we read some reviews about this hotel and we were concerned. But this hotel is fine. The room is clean, smells very antiseptic. They have only one room that takes dogs so we booked online via email. Every thing is great. The restaurant is really good, the town small and friendly. Hotel staff speak some English and we are more then happy here. We even had our SUV washed on the outside for 70 pesos. I would recommend this hotel to travelers with or without a dog. They also have a parking lot for RV's. It is fine and the price is right. Good stopping point on your way south. It is about 6 hours from Laredo including the border stop.

We have been driving back and forth from Cuernavaca, Mexico, to San Antonio, Texas, every summer for the past four or five years, and always stay at Las Palmas. Love it. The construction of the place is a time-travel backwards to probably the 1950's. Large grounds, playground, putt-putt golf, which our daughter enjoys immensely, and a delicious restaurant to boot. One of the best things is you can park your vehicle within inches of the door to your room. In the mornings before we drive off, I take my two thermoses to the restaurant and get them filled with hot coffee, no problem, and all the little packets of whatever you need to go in them. The staff are efficient, friendly and know their respective jobs very well. We always call in advance to tell them we are coming, but it doesn't appear to be necessary. They don't require any credit card info ahead of time at all; just your name so they can hold a room. I will always prefer this old place to any others!

This hotel ia an oasis on the way from Texas to the Lake Chapala region of Mexico.
We've stayed at Las Palmas the last two years as we traveled to our winter residence in Ajijic.. The hotel is clean, secure, comfortable, and has a vey good restaurant. They have a no pet policy but it's a don't ask don't tell situation.
Many if not all of the folks staying there have dogs with them and the bell boy who takes you to your room and everyone else could care less. You can't possibly go wrong staying at Las Palmas.
