“Quiet, convenient, warm and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We've just had the pleasure of staying at the Ajijic Suites for 7 nights. We found it to be very quiet, clean, comfortable and convenient to everything:the lake, the road to the airport and Guadlajara, the central plaza, shopping, hiking, etc. The suites are centered around a courtyard with a pleasant fountain, that includes a table and chairs for alfresco dining. The kitchens are small but inclusive of everything you need for breakfast and/or simple lunches or dinners. There's also a large grocery store called Super Lake nearby that has American-style groceries in case you tire of Mexican food or the less-than-stellar restaurants in Ajijic.

Luis and Elaine, the proprietors are both very friendly and helpful. Luis will pick you up at the airport or drive you into Guadalajara for a fee if you decide you don't want to take the bus or rent a car. Elaine is very well-informed about local sights; she gave us a great recommendation for a spa (balneario) where we spent two enjoyable afternoons. If she doesn't have a resource to recommend in answer to your questions, she's more than willing to call her network of colleagues to find the answer for you.

I was traveling with my husband, but many of the guests were single women. All of them told me they felt completely safe at the Ajijic Suites. The atmosphere is very congenial; you won't feel alone there if you're traveling by yourself. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable: between $50 and $75 depending on which suite you choose and the exchange rate.

Room Tip: the cheaper suites are smaller and don't have balconies. there are great photos on their site to...

“Charming and pristine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

I loved my time here - this is a peaceful and pristine property that is well managed by gracious owners. My room was above the courtyard with a lovely fountain, which I loved hearing. The price is a great value, and the location is only 3 blocks from the square.

“Best in Ajijic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

I spent March and April of this year (2011) at Ajijic Suites in Ajijic. A wonderful experience. Elaine and Luis were great hosts, always ready to help with advice and suggestions. The daily maid service is very good. The location in the village is excellent, only a 7 or 8 minute walk eastward to the central, main plaza and the Lakeside Chapala Society gardens. A walk of three blocks takes you right to the lake. I had a medium-sized suite with a roomy bedroom and a comfortable, king-sized bed. The bathroom had an ample counter, sink and a large shower. The all-purpose room had a kitchenette with micro-wave, fridge, cabinets and all necessary utensils, comfortable chairs and cable television. Free long-distance calls to Canada and United States is provided through Vonnage. My suite was up a short flight of outside stairs with a small patio with table, chairs and umbrella to relax and enjoy the perfect weather. Ajijic Suites is clean, comfortable, lovely and delightfully Mexican with an interior courtyard with many plants, flowers and a large fountain. The price is very reasonable. I have every intention of returning there when. I’ve stayed at and visited other accommodations in the village and this is definitely the best. Highly recommended. I’ll be returning to Ajijic Suites this coming winter.

“Came for a week, stayed for five months!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

This is an absolutely charming place to stay. The location is within close walking distance of the town square, the lake, restaurants, shopping and cultural events. The hosts are friendly, generous and helpful with tips on local shops, events and where to find everything. They're also bilingual (English-Spanish).

The suites are immaculate, and tastefully decorated with local art. There are wonderful common areas and a beautiful courtyard including a fountain.

We will definitely return!

Sharon & Alan

P.S. There is also laundry service available, and the beds are very comfortable!
