“Amazing experience”

We spent a week vacationing in Sutton and staying at Auberge des Appalaches. Amazing experience. We had a wonderful time. It is hard to describe it, you have to experience it! Patricia’s and John’s hospitality and John’s cooking made us all think and talk about the dinner during the day. John’s cooking is the best example that shows that cooking can be art.

“Great location, greats hosts, great food, great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

For a low key, friendly stay close to the mountain, we loved it. We've stayed at several places at Sutton and we'll be returning to this one.

“Small room but great food and bargain price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2011

We had the day and a half ski package at Mont Sutton and this hotel. The room was small with no TV but clean and the beds were very comfortable. The people were very friendly and let us into our room early so we could change to start skiing at noon. The food and service was excellent, amazingly so considering the low price. The hotel is only a three minute drive to the ski hill - the skiing was great too. In all, a great trip at a low price.

“Good deal but...”

If your goal is to do some skiing and stay at a cheap place, its the right place for you. The food on Christmas eve and Christmas was good but the rest of the time its average. Its your typical chalet Suisse style so don't go there if you are a Martha Stewart or a fan of Trading Spaces. For the rooms, very tiny, no TV, no phone and not very soundproof but it does the job if you had a big day of ski. Went there in 2005 and its all the same, food was better though. The cook left 2 years ago and the new guy still need some practice....

“Great Experience, Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2005

Stayed at the Auberge des Appalaches over Christmas 2004. This is a quaint lodge that includes breakfast & dinner with your lodging package. Prices are reasonable; for what you get in the package, I found this to be a great value.

Rooms are tiny; how do they fit the bathroom fixtures into such a small space? and no-frills (no TV, no phone). However, they are clean and pleasantly decorated, if a bit worn around the edges. Even though they have 2 double beds in the rooms, it would be cramped for more than 2 people.

Common areas are nice; a sunroom-type area with a huge TV, a lounge area with a big fireplace, a bar area, and a dining room. You can hang out in these areas when your room gets too cramped. Huge selection of board games provided for additional entertainment.

Dinners are fabulous! With the package, there is a choice of 3 meals every evening (a meat, fish, or pasta dish). Everything we had was superb. This is fancy, gourmet-type stuff in delectable, right-sized portions, so if you are not an adventurous diner or are a fan of huge portions of basic food, this is not for you.

Breakfast also quite good - some basic continental items laid out to select from, plus they make you something hot - typically eggs or pancakes.

Owners and staff all very friendly, helpful, and bilingual.

This place was a great experience, and I highly recommend it. Remember, the lodging is basic and the food is gourmet - if that's what you're looking for, you'll be quite pleased!
