The dinner was very good, well "worth the detour" as Michelin puts it in France.
But the room was not worth the price, and the breakfasts were just average with not much choice apart one (and only) good cake. The owner looked surprised we stayed at the hotel and not the B&B next door as she toured the dinner room. Pity we could not have both dinners there because of a wedding the first night, and had instead two nights in the so so room, with one view to the far left of the room to the river over the parking lot, although it was a "superior" room. The standard rooms overlooking the nice gardens have a good view to the river too, and no parking lot on the west side. Rates fall about 50% on Sunday through Wednesday, but next time we'll give the B&B a try, and only go to the restaurant.

This Inn was advertised as a 4* under the Quebec Tourism rating system. I would say it's more of an international 3*. The outside and grounds of the hotel are gorgeous: a beautiful country look and wonderful gardens. The 'backyard' is a large grassy area on the cliff of the St. Lawrence. A pretty gazebo and some benches are there to enjoy the view.

Unfortunately, the room we stayed in was ordinary, at best. The decor was very old and outdated, and had a funny musty smell. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It felt like my husband and I were going to fall through the springs (the 2 of us together weigh less than 300 pounds). The bathroom was satisfactory. For a 4*, you usually expect some nicer soaps and shampoos, etc, but this place had the bare minimum. Wifi was available for a fee.

The silver lining was the dinner we had. The chef at the Manoir is remarkable. The breakfast was also tres delish, but both meals were very expensive. All in all, I highly recommend the restaurant, especially if you are a foody. The hotel ? Not so much.
