“Romantic & charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

We went to Montmagny for snowmobile, & celebrate my birthday & valentine. We chose le Manoir des Erables because I saw a package for snowmobile but ended with a different package "Pur delice but a lot more expensive than listed. I called just 2 weeks before going and they only had 1 superior room left or regular room. I wanted the superior room but ended with the smallest superior room which was nice but very small. We stayed 2 nights.
The grounds are very beautiful and with their nice lamp posts. It give an ancient feel.
The main building is nice with a lot of extensive wood work very victorian.,
The staff is very attentive to your needs and helpful. The nice lady at the check in told us where to go on snowmobile .
The dinner on Saturday night is very formal, delicious and filling. We chose the 5 course valentine special. The food tasted good mostly the risotto and the cream mushroom soup. The white chocolate mousse was delicious and a good ending to an elaborate dinner. I could not eat it all.

They have a pool table and a bar down stair, but there was no attendant, and I wish they would have served some snacks, mostly when you come back from snowmobile in late afternoon before dinner.

The staff at the spa were nice and accomodating. I did not have an appointment and they were able to find the time for 1/2 hour massage in their busy schedule on Valentine weekend. It was nice after a day of snowmobile.
A few deception was the small room that had the same price as the other superior rooms and was even more expensive than what they had on the internet.

If you want to go and see a special on the internet, book it online . You will not have the same price over the phone.

“Not worth the money”

This hotel was included in a package booked via a travel agent (so we did not pick ourselves). Instead of giving us a room in the old manor, we were given a rather run-down room in the motel style annex building. The room was ok, clean, with a whirlpool but nothing special at all and definitely none of the charming, old atmosphere the manor tries to convey in its description!
Additionally, there was brown water coming out of the tap. The personnel was very friendly and offered to switch rooms (which we turned down) and gave us free bottled water to drink.

The major draw back of the hotel is the totally over priced cuisine! The breakfast package is $15 before tax but only includes a choice of three meager meals, which are nothing but ordinary. Everything else and extra comes at a high price! Very disappointed! If you take the breakfast, plan for a second breakfast about an hour later....

Would not return!

“Beautiful and well-kept!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2008

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Québec from Maine and we picked this hotel out last-minute online. I had made the reservation from Travelocity or some such site, and the reservation actually didn't go through. When I called to confirm the reservation, the host on the telephone was very polite and made the reservation for me.

When we finally arrived the next day, it was a bit difficult to see the turn into the driveway, and there was some annoying construction I had to keep going through -- I didn't know that there were timers on stop lights in Québec! But when we did pull into the driveway, the main reservation/lounge building was absolutely stunning -- beautiful, bright summer flowers overflowing onto the ground from the front garden, well-kept, and made me feel very lucky for the price I paid ($100CAD) as it was so short-notice.

The rooms (at least the one we were assigned) was in a smaller building off to the side, as the main building does not have rooms (unless they are suites or something). There are guest-house type buildings in the back with their own parking. When I opened the door, I was very happy with the décor and style of the house. It used a lot of dark wood, red oriental carpets and low lighting. It appeared antique, I found it very charming.

Now for the room! When you walk in, it smells and looks very clean. The televisions have some cable channels, which is great. Air conditioner in the room. The bed was not too soft to touch, but sleeping on it was actually great. The bathroom was the best part. All white tiled floors, pedestal sink, three-sect mirror. The shower was a corner shower, also with three panes of glass (middle one being the door) and had great water pressure. The soaps, conditioners, shampoos are all peppermint-oatmeal and feel wonderful. There were soft, fresh bath robes provided for each of us in the small closet to the left of the bed. There was a small coffee pot with tea, coffee, sugar and sugar substitute. Also there were some plastic wine glasses.

One thing you should be careful of is the window shades. The windows are indented into the walls, and there are shades that pull down completely over them. If you put some of your belongings in there, it is easy to forget them.

No unexpected service charges. We did not eat here as we were just trying to do something cheap for the weekend. It was a disappointment that we did not get to see Sir McCartney performing at Plains of Abraham, but we were there! There was just no parking in Québec City... at all. Sort of expected since it was last-minute.

Staff was friendly but reserved, and stayed out of our business. A very enjoyable stay altogether!
