Overall, Owl's Head is a really good resort for the price and does what it sets out to do well.
We stayed just after New Year on a week which started out with very little snow and in a winter which has been unusually mild - not ideal for skiing and it was probably as a result this that the place was fairly quiet. However, the main runs were open to start with and luckily temperatures dropped the first night so the snow cannons could significantly improve on the few inches of real snow, making conditions much better from then on. While skiing higher up the views across Lake Memphremagog are fantastic, the runs are fairly varied, the ski school is very reasonably priced and the private lessons we had were very useful. It's a medium sized resort, so even with all the runs open a 5 day stay is as much as I'd want, but there are other mountains nearby and you could mix in a few days of skiing elsewhere using Owl's Head as a base. Compared to skiing in Europe this place was cold, - 20 degrees! and there aren't any covered or high speed lifts - so you need to wrap up warm!
The resort has 1 cafeteria, 1 restaurant and 1 bar, equipment rental and a small shop with ski/board stuff.
We stayed in the Auberge - ski-in/ski-out accommodation where things were simple & well used, but also well designed and still working so I've no complaints. Our room was large, heated up quickly, had two comfortable double beds, a desk, en suite shower room and a good wi-fi connection. For entertainment there was the bar, air hockey and some board games in the main sitting area - but you had to make (or bring) your own entertainment - there aren't nearby streets of apres ski bars, but nothing you read will suggest otherwise so that's no surprise.
We expected distinctly average food as it was included in the ski package, but for dinner the food was actually really good (choice of 3 courses). Generally service was also great, staff were friendly and helpful, but there were quite a few signs reminding you to tip!
I would happily recommend Owl's Head and as long as you can amuse yourself a bit in the evening it's got what you need for a great little ski break.
