“Personality problem”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

The best thing I can say about this B&B was that the breakfast was very nice. There was a very uncomfortable atmosphere and we did not feel welcome. There was no communal room where guests could relax and chat to each other. We got the impression that we had to stay in our bedroom the whole time. The bathroom towels were very small and there was quite a bit of road noise. Elizabeth should not be in this business or maybe she has been in it too long. Doug on the other hand was very personable and friendly and for his sake we are reluctantly writing this report. We have received such a warm and friendly reception from all the other B&Bs on Prince Edward Island, this was such a contrast.

Thank you very much for your comments. We are sorry that you did not feel welcome.

We try to make a point of letting all our guests know that they can make use of our home.
Some of our guests take their computers out to the dining room table and take advantage of our free WiFi connection or play cards and board games.
Other guests bring back take out meals and eat in the dining room and we supply fresh tea or coffee for them.
Some of our guests play Elizabeth's grand piano.
Around the house there are 4 picnic tables and BBQs that are always available for guest use. Guests are always welcome to use of our kitchen to prepare bag lunches or reheat food in our microwave oven.
And, we are always available to assist with trip planning for the next leg of the journey,
Although each accommodation is equipped with its own satellite TV, no one is expected to stay in their room for the whole evening.

“Good deal !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

Very good hospitality; breakfast are delicately cooked and so good !
Room entrance was beside the big kitchen which was beside the living room. Intimacy can seem to be limited but it's ok.
Nice countryside landscapes all aound.
B&B to be recommended.

“GREAT LOCATION, COMFORTABLE, GREAT FOOD...VERY RELAXING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

We stayed in the room in the house just off the kitchen. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. There was a lot of good reading material in the room, a great fridge and a tv. The owner was kind enough to supply us with a cot for our daughter.

The owner, Elizabeth, was very friendly. She advised us of lots of good places to eat. She treated our 7 year old daughter really nice doing things like offering her hot chocolate and letting her play with the pet dog for a bit.

The location was excellent. Close to Greenwich Park, our favourite place to visit in PEI.

The breakfast was awesome. Home baked bread, scones and muffins. Excellent coffee and eggs were perfectly cooked. Compliments to the chef!

Only minor thing was there was no covering on the bathroom window. Even though its in the country we still prefer the privacy. An inexpensive blind would be all that is needed. Other than that..awesome place to stay..Would stay there again.

“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2009

Nice place to stay for bicyclists.

Easy to find but quite the hill coming out of St. Peters Bay, had to walk up it after dinner instead of cycle. Room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was excellent! Nice variety of fruit on platters on table along with freshly-baked scones and then your choice of cereal, toast from freshly-baked bread, eggs your way! Good coffee. Host and hostess were friendly, courteous and helpful with directions. We would definitely recommend!

“Not the best lodging choice”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2009

Recently returned from PEI, most places we stayed the hosts were friendly, the cottages were very nice. Sadly, this was our most expensive stay and also our least favorite. We booked this place for its location and because we had read favorable reviews (although the majority of those were for the cottage or the B&B rooms. The uncomforable feelings started with our arrival--where we were chastised for not knowing where to park (nothing marked, so we parked next to another car.) Nothing noting where we were to check-in. Couldn't find our host. Were chastised for many things. We had asked about getting lobsters to eat at our place, the message was clear...try to eat it at a local restaurant, or at least buy it cooked already. We wanted to cook it and eat it at our lodging, so we decided against it. We stayed in one of their 2 BR 'efficiency suites' which they advertised as being for those who wanted more privacy or would like cooking facilities. These efficiencies are roomy enough...but are located as an add-on to their laundry room and basement. We definitely had the feel of being in their cellar. Our 'private' entry door was used by our hosts to go out for walking their dogs, so if we wanted privacy in our space, we had to draw the curtains. The place was decorated nicely enough. The bathroom was not the best...the towels were threadbare and skimpy. We were not relying on them supplying shampoo and soap, which was a good thing, because they had out bottles of shampoo and conditioner that were previously used, and partially emptied...YUCK. The toilet needed some repairs...didn't flush well, had to have very long arms to reach for the toilet paper. The kitchen and sitting area are one open space with thin rubber-backed carpeting on them. We felt it was damp and musty the entire time. While Elizabeth, who we mostly dealt with, was not as warm and friendly as we had hoped, Doug her husband was very friendly and warm. This place is in a great location if you want to go to Greenwich, which we did. There are not many places near there to stay...but while we will come back to Greenwich, we wil not stay at Cable Head again.
