“Customer service was great”

We couldn't actually stay here. It was outside our allotted budget. We are very tall and were worried that the double beds would have taken away from the experience. The rooms with queen beds looked amazing but out of our price range (at the end of our vacation) but they answered all our questions and were eager to please. If we ever come back they will be our first call!

“no room in the inn”

The house is so crammed with knicknacks that there is no place to sit in the first floor common rooms. I would advise spending less on artwork and more on new mattresses and pillows. Other b&b's offered far more comfortable beds and settings. The "first come, first served" policy at breakfast verged on the rude, as guests were put in their place by an exasperated server. This b&b is more of a showcase than a comfortable respite for a traveller. And the walls are very thin: when the neighbouring guests used the whirlpool, we unwillingly shared in the experience. You can do better for less on the island.

“Absolutely Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

If you are planning a trip to lovely Prince Edward Island, you must stay at the Barachois Inn. This wonderful inn is located in the charming village of South Rustico which is beautiful, historic and peaceful. The location is very convenient for seeing all of PEI. The inn is beautifully furnished with original artwork and antiques and is located in a lovingly landscaped setting. The hosts are very helpful and knowledgeable about their home and truly make you feel welcome. The food was excellent and served in a beautiful dining room. We really enjoyed chatting with the other guests. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and hope to return soon. I can't say enough about what a great time we had. VERY highly recommended!

“Memorable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

Good place to stay on PEI near Ann of Green Gables attractions but not in the midst of it all. Surrounding area has some attractions. B&B has free pass to the PEI park. Very attractive furnishings and good breakfasts.

“Fantastic hotel”

We stayed here for 2 nights on a driving tour of Eastern Canada. Originally had thought of staying in Charlottetown, but were not impressed with reviews of those so my husband found this one instead - and what a good choice it was!

We had originaly booked the Victorian Room (in the main house) but when we arrived they upgraded us (at no extra cost) to Room No. 2. It was beautifully decorated, with lots of antiques etc around and many nice touches, such as music system with headphones, torch in bedside table, good range of toiletries). Bathroom was nice, with proper shower cubicle (always better than the over-the-bath type in most hotels). No tea or coffee-making facilities in room but owners were happy to make tea for us when we asked.

Bed was very comfortable and had the option of using air conditioning or opening windows (opted for the latter) so enjoyed comfortable nights' sleep.

Hot breakfast (served by Judy & Gary's daughter) was wonderful - nice choices and very well cooked and prepared. It was nice to have the chance to sit down with other guests and chat.

Great location - very nice & peaceful. Don't miss a visit to the church opposite (oldest Catholic charch on PEI) and the small museum and house next door. Judy is a mine of information on the area and only too happy to share it with you.

Judy & Gary made us very welcome - in fact, almost the first thing Gary did was invite us to the event that was taking place that night in the museum!

Would definitely recommend to anybody visiting PEI; Charlottetown is okay to visit but this was a much nicer area to stay. Also very convenient for visiting Green Gables at Cavendish.
