“The location and ambiance of Forest and Stream make for a delightful stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

The location of Forest and Stream is excellent for touring the eastern shore of PEI. Glenn did all he could to tailor his recommendations of the island for our interests. He was always there when we had questions yet never intruded on our privacy. He even helped us solve a computer problem.
The Kozy Cottage was just that, a bit small for a stay longer than a couple of days. The porch was not really appealing to use and the closeness of the 5 cabins didn't afford much outside privacy although there was a row of conifers between each cabin. However, the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was adequate for cooking and the woodland trails that led to the Confederation Trail was a big plus. Although we didn't take advantage of the lake and the use of the boats, I could see that it would be a good feature for some.
We had no problem with insects, the weather for the week was about ideal with only one day of real rain, and the people of PEI were the nicest and friendliest we've run across.
The produce from the local farm stands was excellent, as was the real food at the restaurant in Murray Harbour. If you are looking for lots of touristy glitz, then this part of PEI is not for you. Come for the people and nature and you won't be disappointed.
I'd stay at Forest and Stream again.

“PEI the way you should experience it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

Thank you Glenn and Joan for a wonderful stay at Forest and Stream Cottages! We traveled with an 11 year old and a 7 year old. After arriving, Glen sat down with our family, asked us what we wanted to see and do while on the Island. He hand wrote all the great spots on the Eastern Coastal Drive for our family to stop. We spent 2 days visiting all the great local spots to swim, shop, and indulge in the local culture. We found some great sea glass! A beautiful piece of Black Glass, washed by years of sand and surf. Golf in the area was great as was the local resturant and shopping im Murray Harbour. So advice...In Brehauts (hope that is spelled right) order the pecan pie before you order dinner, get it served hot with soft Ice cream! IT IS TO DIE FOR! The seafood chowder is the best we have every had with big chunks of scallops, lobster and fish! Thanks Glenn for that tip! Miss Ellys, is great place to find antique treasures as is the Blue Moon. Fishing in the lake at Forest and Stream was wonderful. We caught many Speckled trout, one which actually pulled the boat around and was 16" in lenght! We ate him for dinner! The accomodations were very clean and the laundry facility was greatly appreciated! It was so very quiet at night. The confederation trail runs right past the cottages and you can walk for miles and miles on the beautiful trail! We enjoyed our time there so much, we stayed another night. 5 days on PEI was not enough for us! We will be back again soon! The friendlienss of the local residents is evident in the fact that every one waves at each other...driving, walking or biking. Its a great place to bring a family. I would recommend this to any family who is well grounded, who is looking to experience cottage rental on PEI at its most realistic. Its a retreat to get back to nature, to row quietly through calm waters, to watch the birds feed and play with the snowshoe hare. We saw Bald Eagles grace across the tips of the trees, giant toad stools complete with toads, hummingbirds vie for sweet nectar all the while still remaining connected to the Modern world with a wireless network. This was great place for our family vacation and has left us with so many fantastic memories!

“Overrated property”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

Having read positive reviews in Frommer's and other sources we chose this for being "peaceful woodlands near a narrow lake, laced with nature trails". Ok, it was that though the trails were really just very short walks. We stayed in a good sized (1950s feel & look) cabin with a kitchen, dining table and couch. This is do it yourself. there was a microwave, pots & pans, coffee pot but no coffee provided. Matter of fact, the only special amenities provided were soap and sugar packets. (ex. no kleenex). Don't plan on a decent shower - no pressure and terrible shower head.

There were 2 bedrooms. The small TV was on top of the refrigerator. We'd hoped screened in porch - with 2 plastic chairs thus not too picturesque (extremely necessary due to hordes of mosquitos) would have a view - it did, of some close up trees.

The owners were friendly and helpful and apparently run a highly rated B&B in the house. A free rowboat is provided for the lake, but it's so rickety that it's impossible to paddle - we gave up after a few minutes of trying to steer while being eaten alive by bugs.

The facility was quiet and clean. The "town" consisted of 1 general store and 1 cute diner-like 34 year old, reasonably priced restaurant. We skipped it for breakfast because it was packed and had to drive a considerable distance before finding food. This might not be so bad if one is prepared in advance with supplies and in absolutely no hurry.

“A wonderful and relaxing vacation stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

Glenn and Joan were wonderful in both giving us the advice and assistance that we needed, and in giving us the privacy we also valued. The cabins were clean and nicely decorated, but not fancy, and had comfortable beds, a nice TV, a comfortable couch, nice refrigerator, a coffee maker, a microwave, and a DVD player. Glenn and Joan fixed our group of 4 a wonderful lobster dinner at their home, and we enjoyed the conversation with them and with Joan's sister and brother-in-law. We also enjoyed rowing on the beautiful lake, and hiking around the property on the mowed and maintained walking paths. When we have the opportunity we will return to PEI and again stay in one of their cabins.

“The most relaxing return on a very good investment ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2009

This is a "Bed and Breakfast".
The room, the service, the surroundings, the ambience were beyond expectations. Very relaxing, calming get-away from the "real" world. Glenn and Joan are excellent hosts, attending to every need including the need to simply be allowed to relax and enjoy the solitude and surrounding nature. The breakfasts were memorableand "extra meal" services provided exceeded expectations.
