Had stayed here previously in housekeeping units and it seemed to be fine but this trip was last minute and all housekeeping units and cottages booked. Stayed in room 5 which has 2 double beds (cramped with 2 adults), mini fridge (came in handy) and a tiny bathroom. Basic cable TV but no movie channels or DVD's to rent. No coffee maker. Shower head was low flow and made washing hair difficult. Sink tap sprayed water on our shirts. Warm room but beds comfy. Had to adjust air conditioner ourselves to coldest setting and leave bathroom window open so we could get some sleep. No fruit, yogurt or cereal for breakfast - just apple juice, toast and donuts. Coffee (good) and tea as well but nothing substantial. Did not use pool (too many kids in it) and had to share the hot tub with the kids as well (keep the hot tub for the adults, please!) All rooms are now non-smoking and as a smoker, I have overlooked a lack of amenities in the past because I was thankful to be able to smoke in the room. Now I'm more critical about the lack of amenities and also about price. I paid $135.00 Cdn. (with tax) per night and felt it was too much for that cramped little room. You can smoke outside but have to deal with possible inclement weather and other guests who are also outside may not appreciate you smoking close to them. On a positive note...rooms cleaned daily, lots of towels, and friendly, helpful staff. We checked out a day early (teenager cranky and miserable) and were not charged for the extra night so that was great. Teen son thought motel was boring but also the Cavendish area in general. Only thing he enjoyed was the Brackley Beach drive-in theatre. I liked Avonlea Village and the Anne of Green Gables play in Charlottetown. Cavendish is good for non-smokers, beach lovers, golfers, and families with small children. I am a smoker, we don't like the beach, we don't golf and we now have a teenager. It's no longer a good vacation destination for us but I would not go so far as to not recommend it...it's just not for us anymore.
