“Excellent Hotel with a Really Nice "Perk"...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Well maintained hotel with a pleasant surprise when you reach your room. Lots of space to settle in, stainless steel appliances, cosy furniture, a large sink/counter area to clean-up or get ready and the bed is very comfortable. All materials/furniture seemed top notch for a mid-market hotel. Can tell hotel is not that old. Staff were friendly on check-in, and cleanliness of area was excellent. Hotel room was clean and had a "fresh scent" to it. Breakfast in the morning was very good with lots of options, hot and cold. The breakfast area was well kept and tidy. Staff seemed to care with a very welcoming "good morning". Oh, that nice "perk"... they leave you a bag of microwave popcorn in the room with a great big bowl to serve it from... but please don't tell anyone - I burnt mine :'(

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a higher number (i.e. 316 vs. 301), they are on the south side of the hotel away...

“Smelly room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We stayed at this hotel from Agust 16-21, 2011.
Although we made reservations, the room we reserved was not available.
They instead gave us a room that had been flooded and was now smelling of mold and mildew. They offered to try and find another room for us at another hotel, but all the hotel in the area were fully booked, so we were stuck with this smelly room.
The upside was that it easily fit our party of 6 - two adults and four kids.
The room came with 2 bathrooms , two bedorroms and a living room with a pullout soffa.

WIFI: went dead during our stay. At night I took the manager with me to the communications room and worked with the service provider help desk to get the hotel back online. I should have billed the hotel for my services. Even when WIFI was working the speed was very very slow!
Breakfast: Not enough healthy food available - too much junk, commercial ingredients, and fatty food. Eggs from powdered eggs, commercial batter for waffles, no plain yourgurt (only flavoured), fresh fruit ran out quickly, not enough stocked or served, etc...
pool is small not for laps just for splasing around in. tiny work out facility.
Ask the front desk for laundry soap and dryer softner - it is available.

Room Tip: Call the hotel directly and ask to speak to the manager to make sure the room you want is available.

“Great Place for a Business Meeting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Our group has recently stayed at Residence Inn for a business meeting. We spent 3 nights there and we were thoroughly impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and common areas as well as the kindness and courtesy of the staff.

Although the meeting room was rather small, it had comfortable leather chairs and reliable wireless Internet connection.

The rooms have a lovely decor and are functionally designed with a rotating flat screen TV that can be watched both from the couch and from your bed. They are equipped with lots of lighting and what was important to me was the location of bedside lamps. They were mounted over your head as opposed to them being located on the night table. This allowed me to read in bed without straining my eyes. Excellent idea indeed!

The staff couldn't have been more attentive to our needs and we truly appreciated it.

On behalf of our group, I'd like to thank you Vincci, Gabrielle, Mali and Evans, as well as the lady looking after the food area, for making our stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: I'd avoid the rooms overlooking a parking lot/garage for some kind of construction company, as a...

“Easily the best mid-market Marriott property in the Toronto area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

person found this review helpful

After trying the various Courtyards and Residence Inns around Toronto, I finally found the best of the Marriott chain in Vaughan. This Residence Inn feels brand new inside, with upscale decor and fresh design. The staff was decidedly better than the others, with prompt friendly service that felt genuine.
I usually find a few issues with any property, but honestly the only thing I really fault them on is parking. It's unusually arranged and somewhat limited: you'll do better by parking by the back door.
Sadly, I may not be back, as its location is just too far away from the office. The ubiquitous Toronto traffic makes the commute nearly an hour. Then again, it's a good enough hotel to make up for it.
Nicely done.
